Trudeau's Cabinet

Canadians have a lot to be proud of, ( and a titch smug too!) I think:

Our new PM went directly to work, after getting sworn in, no afternoon off, as is usually the deal. And has called parliament back for the 4th of December. Let’s get to work!

And this is his cabinet;
Minister of Environment and CLIMATE CHANGE
Minister of Immigration, Citizenship and REFUGEES
Minister of Health, an actual Doctor
Minister of Families, Children and Social Development is a poverty economist
Minister of Science is an actual scientist (with a Nobel Prize)
Minister of Status of Women is an actual woman
Minister of Veteran Affairs is a quadriplegic
Minister of Employment, Workforce Development and Labour is a professional Geologist
Minister of Democratic Institutions is a Muslim refugee
Minister of Sport and Disability is a Paralympic Athlete
Minister of Defense is a badass war hero, Afgan vet, former police officer
Minister of Transport is a damn Astronaut!

Half our ministers are women
Two of our ministers are First Nations (Kwakwaka’wakw, Inuit)
Three were born outside of Canada, (India, Afganistan)
Two are Sikh
One is a Muslim
Two are Athiests
One is battling breast cancer:(
One is in a Wheelchair
One is blind
One is openly gay
One is openly ginger
And Hon. Navdeep Bains has the most wonderful twirly moustache!

At the press conference after the swearing in, when asked why a gender balanced cabinet was so important to him he responded, “Because it’s 2015.”

We’re loving our the new guy!

Well that’s just wrong.

Those shameless Canadians!

The Minister of Science does not have a Nobel Prize. She once did work for an organization that was awarded a Nobel Prize, which is true of thousands and thousands of people and we don’t call them all Nobel Prize winners. Indeed, the IPCC has publically made it clear that everyone who works for them should not be calling themselves Nobel Prize winners.

I rememberJustin’s dad when he was PM. I once shook PET’s hand.

I no longer live in Canada but it makes me feel nostalgic and a little proud to have another Trudeau at 24 Sussex Drive.

I wish him and the country well.

This National Post articlemade me laugh and laugh.

Trudeau appoints a bunch of VERY qualified people to cabinet.

And what do they say about this? “Trudeau appoints a cabinet of people more qualified than he is”

My God. Are they trying to be as idiotic as possible? I guess they are simply unable to see out of the Authoritarian paradigm that they’re stuck in. They seem to be unable to comprehend a leader who actually works with smart people, and rather think that leaders should command a bunch of yes-men and sycophants.

This would make more sense if it were an unemployed geologist. There are usually plenty of those to choose from!:stuck_out_tongue:

My dad emailed me this exact piece. Either he got it from here, or it is making the rounds.

One of the most significant changes made is that there is now a minister of science who is an actual working scientist (although not a Nobel laureate as the OP claims). The previous cabinet had a minister of science and technology who was interested only in industrial applied science. He was a college dropout who then went to chiropractic school. He was a creationist.

It looks like a brilliant cabinet. But we have to see what it does.

While there are a few odd points to this list I am really happy so far with Justin Trudeau’s actions. His focus seems to be in the right places and I’m looking forward to seeing how he handles the issues as they arise.

This is the most positive I’ve been about a politician in a long time.

This is just-- wow. Can we kidnap him and bring him to the US?? Whether or not his cabinet and minister choices will be effective, this guy seems like he really wants to do the job, and it’s certainly not an easy one.

I’ve been a long time Trudeau supporter not necessarily because of Trudeau himself, but because of all of the talent that lined up behind him. What a great looking cabinet and I wish them the best.

So now we have people overseeing important sections of the country and economy and they were given that job because of their gender, and not because of their intellect or knowledge.
Let’s hope these cabinet ministers are smarter than their leader because that was a very foolish decision.

I’ll say. I have to admit that I didn’t know much about him leading up to the election. For all I knew, maybe he wasn’t ready, like the Conservative ads told us. But since he won, it’s like he’s been ready and waiting his whole life. I’ve never seen the country so enervated by its PM.

A friend told me about a cartoon he saw that showed Harper now living in his own version of Hell. His mayor in Calgary is a Muslim, his premier is a socialist, and his PM is a free-wheeling liberal.

His PM is a Trudeau. Believe me, that will burn him for years.

Don’t you already have a version of him in Obama? There’s a lot of similarities between their stories and ideologies.

I think you might want to check out the bio’s of our new cabinet ministers, before you embarrass yourself more.

Here’s a fun fact to start you off:

You may not know this, but these days, women are allowed to attend school, and even have careers! You might want to look into this.

Yes, I’d like to know why half of those jobs were reserved for men. Did they actually deserve it or did they get the job simply by virtue of their maleness?

Still not as bad as putting a hockey player in the Senate out of political cronyism!

If the Senate was all hockey players, it’d be a lot more lively.
