Truly mundane and pointless: Twist ties

I have noticed over a long period of time that the twist tie on a loaf of bread bought from a store is always twisted to the left, the opposite of what I would expect - you know, righty tighty … This is not most of the time. Always. Doesn’t matter what brand or what store. Always.

I’m not angry, just curious. I suppose they all use the same machine.

Yeah, it’s just. . .wrong. Like the left-handed bread Nazis are deliberately trying to convert good god fearing, right handed 'muricans into lefties. I blame Hillary.

They’re always twisted to the left when purchased. I fix the problem the RIGHT way. My left handed relatives un-do my repairs. Diabolical lefturds!

Twist ties on bread? Haven’t seen those in years. All the bread 'round these parts have those color-coded plastic clips.

I’ve bought loaves of sourdough that have a plastic clip on the outside, and then an inner bag with a twist-tie on it.

The twist ties are put on from a double conveyor belt. Half are righties and half are lefties. Maybe they ship all of one side to one area and the other to another.

I’ve seen those plastic clips in many colors, but I never noticed any particular pattern to the colors. True, I never particularly paid any attention. Are they in fact color-coded? What is the code? Is it related to the current threat level?

What day the bread was delivered to the store.

The significance of each color varies by region and manufacturer.

Wikipedia sez:

I don’t consider that to be the last word on the subject, because Wikipedia.

The Perfect Master has handled far more trivial questions in the past. Maybe he should be prevailed upon to [del]look into this[/del] order his SDStaff minions to look into this?

ETA: Ninja’d by Inner Stickler, without even a pretense of citation. I still think we need a column about this.

Excellent.

Don’t be ridiculous.

Half go to the Northern hemisphere, and half go to the Southern. Like the way water goes down the drain one direction in the north, and the other in the south.

What happens if you live right on the equator? To the water and to the twist ties?
