I have to add that besides the gay or trans partner not approving of what the killer did, it does not take away the reality that Kash Patel remains a nincompoop.
I think the 2024 Republican primaries, such as they were, demonstrated just how difficult it is to replicate Trump’s secret sauce. DeSantis tried his damnedest to portray himself as even Trumpier than Trump, but with the brains and temperament to be able to carry out the Trumpist vision in a more effective and disciplined manner. He got absolutely nowhere.
Interestingly, the only Republican, other than Trump, to win even a single primary that year was Nikki Haley, who made herself out to be the least Trumpy candidate (even if she did ultimately bend the knee to the Orange Emperor).
On that note, I am pretty active with fighting ignorance in the comments on various Facebook local news pages and NYT, CNN, etc (under my legit page with my legal name, albeit with my profile completely locked down from anyone who I’m not “Friends” with).
When I “Googled” myself the other day (I have a pretty uncommon last name) I was kind of taken aback to see all the information that was compiled on me through “truepeoplesearch”. Current address and older ones going back 20 years, old phone numbers, my parents’ and sister’s names and ages and addresses, etc. My current employer was listed as well.
I submitted a pretty easy record removal request through them, and within 36 hours everything was gone and now I get a “This record is no longer available” message.
Food for thought for any of y’all that might want to look into it. I was pretty discouraged thinking “there is no way in hell this request is going to go anywhere, but I’ll give it a shot anyway”. I was shocked when I got the follow up emails from them within a day to let me know it was being processed.
Perhaps they just put you on the double secret probation list? And anyone else who asks to be removed.
I have managed to purge myself from all of those places. They are typically very good about removal. It’s honestly easier for them to do that than to deal with any bullshit from not removing it. They still have tens of millions of entries or more. Be sure to recheck every few months.
I googled myself on that service and holy shit there was a TON of inaccuracies in the information, including alleged addresses for me thousands of miles away from where I have ever lived and they don’t have my current name correct. WTF?
Creepy. The information on me is about 75% accurate, but at least they are wrong about my address and phone number (thanks, credit reporting that can’t handle ex-pats!).
OK, glad I wasn’t the only one who looked myself up.
It has my correct address, which is unsurprising since we’ve lived here for 40 years. But it has my old landline number, which was disconnected about 8 years ago, and my cell phone number is my daughter’s. Of course, I originally was the account owner, but that was also changed several years ago.
I believe I will remove myself from that database.
The site says I’m blocked. I assume they just don’t want to deal with EU people who actually have legal rights regarding data clarity versus their supposed willingness to help out of the goodness of their hearts.
On the other hand, they only have 1 of my four e-mail addresses, don’t have my date of birth, and are otherwise lacking some other details.
It almost makes me want to pay the service for the more in-depth report just to see if there is anything that needs to be cleared up there but I have no idea if I could trust one of those places.
And, of course, contacting them at all means confirming that they have your correct e-mail address (or one of them).
New question.
Those memes, with the guy sitting at a table, with a stupid sign that says “Somethingsomething prove me wrong!”
Was that Kirk? If so, I never figured it out.
More often than not, that’s Steven Crowder at the “Change my mind” table.
Winding up college kids generates clicks, I guess.
Nope; it’s a podcaster named Steven Crowder. Also, the end of the meme is usually “Change My Mind.”
Thanks!
And now Kimmel has been canceled for his Kirk comments.
Unbelievable. Ironically, that’s not what Kirk would have wanted
What did he say?
And about Trump:
I’ve certainly heard far more offensive things from comedians on television.
Wrong. Entirely believable. And I’m not convinced Kirk was opposed to critics losing, whether that was the argument, their jobs, etc.
