Even with that the Founders, being very influenced by Deism, said Creator endowed not God-given.
So it isn’t even in sync with actual historic American patriotism.
I wasn’t really offering to defend his eloquent quotes, they speak for themselves.
Also I never said I agreed with every word Charlie Kirk ever uttered. That’s lefty thing, idolizing people and hiding any faults they may have, that’s not how I roll.
Clearly, you are just showing that you remain an ignoramus of what Charlie was doing and saying. Talking pretty does not make the efforts of the pretty talker to be good.
It’s pretty obvious, when you really examine the video, that the bulge in his neck corresponded to where the “bullet” hit. The theory is that he was wearing a fake prosthetic neck, and the bulge was squibs. There’s a reason why his body was hustled out of there so fast, and Patel was spoiling the crime scene. Why he would fake his own death is best left to conspiracy theorists.
And Kirk’s insanity grows after his death. “Oklahoma State Superintendent of Schools Ryan Walters announced plans on Tuesday to establish chapters of conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s right-wing organization, Turning Point USA, in every high school in his state, threatening to revoke school credentials if they don’t comply.
Good move. Why even have those radical leftist teachers at all? Just turn education over to a nice private entity like Turning Point. What could go wrong?
So this may have been a genuine attempt on her part to be a good person and mitigate the harm. Certainly Jimmy Kimmel was moved by it last night. And I have no doubt that some Christians actually try to follow the words of Christ and forgive their enemies. This very well may be a case of that – I am not attempting to judge this specific case, only provide some context from my life experience.
But I’ve been around conservative Christians before, attended church services, even saw speaking in tongues and that sort of thing. There is, especially in the south, a culture of ostentatiously displaying your religiosity as a way of showing that you’re holier than thou, and making a big public display of forgiving someone who did you wrong is very consistent with that. (Though this is not the case here, it’s especially true if it’s aimed at someone else within your social circle because you’re sort of implicitly calling them out for their misdeeds while you feign holiness – they use a veil of holiness to bash others and lift themselves over them)
I hesitated to post this at all because Erika Kirk’s forgiveness may be genuine and admirable and may be well-intentioned, but I suspect Jimmy Kimmel and some of the posters here may not have seen the performative acts of holiness that are common among conservative Christians, and so I think no one who has ever been exposed to that sort of thing may automatically think that this must be an impressive act of personal character.
I’ve been debating whether to actually post this or not because if she is genuine, and I’m not willing to invest the time required to try to figure that out, then this is a shitty mistreatment of her words and actions. I only wanted to provide context that this sort of behavior is not always genuine.
