Tyler Robinson has been appointed an experienced defense lawyer. The Governor of Utah is not going to shoot the kid. I anticipate a deal with jail time in Utah. Tyler will likely be out within 18 months.
No way.
Why not. It’s whatever gets the Governor re-elected. That is more related to LDS attitude toward redemption than political road kill.
Utah has a mandatory 15 years for first degree murder. This is a big case with a lot of enraged people wanting blood – they may not execute the guy but they’re not going to softball him. There’s no real leverage for a plea deal either, it seems like he’s caught pretty red handed. I don’t think the state of Utah is known for lenience when it comes to prison sentences, whatever the Mormon culture. 18 months is nothing. Utah voters would be outraged with that.
Do you really think that he will be released from prison during the Trump administration?
I anticipate a life sentence with the possibility of parole in perhaps 20-25 years. Or perhaps no possibility of parole.
Care to give some examples?
Because when I look up ‘enlightened liberalism’, I am presented with things like abolition, civil rights, women’s suffrage, universal schooling, and prison reform. Not exactly underpinnings of the foundation of this country.
It’s Halloween Season. Are any stores selling bloody Dead Charlie mannequins to put on front lawns…?
I was talking about 18th century enlightenment in Europe. Which part would you like explained exactly?
I think there are several reasons that happened in Europe and not say, the Middle East but I don’t really feel like entertaining that tangent. If I recall correctly this started because I said that the US was founded by (white) people who were overwhelmingly Christians. Not all evident statements need to be justified. If you can tie this back to the topic of this thread I’d be happy to engage.
That’ll be a first!
Are you suggesting that the Enlightenment was an off-shoot of Christianity and not a response to it?
Which probably has more to do with the foundation of this country rather than its underpinnings.
If it’s indeed evident, it should easily be justified. But you choose not to do so, so I remain skeptical of your so-called evidence.
You’re the one who brought up the side topic.
But, like others in this thread, I’m already finding it tiresome to engage with you. I’ll return to just sitting back and watching.
It’d be nice if someone opened a new thread to not discuss with Pedro what Pedro has posted.
Don’t look at me, I’ve started one thread in my 20 years here and I’m keeping it that way!
Naw, our only hope is that Nurse Ratchet revokes his computer privilege.
Probably wishful thinking on my part. I do believe he will initially get a sentence like you propose. That will roll through a series of modifications until he is released. On the other hand, if the defense attorney is looking for press exposure, she might take it to trial and win.
I’m not in favor of draconian prison sentences, but even I think a guy should get a fairly long sentence for murder. Why do you wish for a light sentence here?
Good question.
I put him in a category similar to Rittenhouse and Zimmerman. In my view both were guilty of first degree murder but got off due to legal technicalities. I can accept the same happening to Tyler Robinson.
You can accept it… OK, I guess that was a big open question that has been answered. Pretty ironic that you keep attacking me for being so bad at this when your posts are so disjointed, vacuous and poorly written. I’m not even trying to be funny right now or trying to flame you.
Rittenhouse and Zimmerman were acquitted. Which defense for Tyler Robinson could possibly lead to the same result inside a Universe that is internally consistent?
Great. Now we have TWO trolls.
Too soon – literally. It’s a six-month lead to order something and get it imported for stuff like that, and that’s after it has been designed and offered.
