It’s an understandable point of confusion - for the last eight years we’ve had the Republicans asserting that Obama and Clinton were guilty of multiple crimes and that Obama was going to be impeached any day now and Clinton was going to jail and that they both repeatedly violated the Constitution and, gosh darn it, this next investigation was going to be the one that proved all this. So Republicans naturally assume that the Democrats are equally dishonest about making unsupported accusations before any investigations take place because, after all, “both sides do it”.
The NY Observer is reporting that the director of the NSA, Mike Rogers, has openly discussed that they have proof of collusion between the Russians and team Trump:

He stated, “There is no question that we [meaning NSA] have evidence of election involvement and questionable contacts with the Russians.” Although Rogers did not cite the specific intelligence he was referring to, agency officials with direct knowledge have informed me that DIRNSA was obviously referring to a series of SIGINT reports from 2016 based on intercepts of communications between known Russian intelligence officials and key members of Trump’s campaign, in which they discussed methods of damaging Hillary Clinton."*
Odd that a newspaper owned by Jared Kushner would break this story.

He sold his stake to a Kushner family trust, and his brother in law took over as publisher after the election. I’d think that would still be more than enough influence to kill the story.

I’m skeptical of Schindler. He was on board pretty early with the Russia hacking story but he hasn’t said anything related since that has became publicly true. I don’t know of anything he’s said that’s been proven false either though, there’s just been a lot of allegations that are never heard of again.
He also hasn’t been at the NSA for 12 years. He was teaching at the Navy War College since 2005 until he resigned/got fired after a scandal involving him sending dick pics to some woman, yet he talks as if his intel friends are always giving him current highly secret information. Maybe so, but I’m skeptical.
To me, he’s in the Louise Mensch category, although not quite as crazy as her. Fun to read but could also be on the payroll to discredit the Russia story.
When Kushner sneaked Ambassador Kislyak and Putin’s banker buddy into Trump tower via a service entrance in December, he asked the Russian ambassador for access to Russian diplomatic facilities in the United States in order to have secret back channel communications to Moscow so the Trump team could continue communication with Russian government officials.
In other words, Kushner wanted to be able to jog down to the Russian embassy and send secret messages to Moscow. He wanted to do this to “continue their communication with Russian government officials.” *Continue *their communication.
Seriously. Is there any possible, or even conceivable, legitimate explanation for this in the context of all of the other shit?
I can’t think of any. I don’t know how it is in real life, but in the spy movies, a person usually goes to their own embassy to send secret messages back to their own government whilst it’s usually people who are loyal to the enemy who go to the enemy’s embassy to send secret messages to the enemy’s capitol.
I hope this back channel wasn’t set up on a private server though. Gosh, that would make this scandalous.
