Trump keeps outdoing himself with his actions. I don’t see this whole “the press is an enemy of the people” thing ending well. Unfortunately, I think that the mainstream press will continue to get the short end of the streak (yes, I’m becoming more pessimistic as each day goes by). The quote that the mainstream press “doesn’t represent the people” is especially disturbing. It’s not the job of the press to “represent the people” it’s their job to report the truth. It’s obvious why Trump is doing this, what I don’t get is why Trump supporters eat this stuff up. What do you all think?
At some point, he’ll realize that 26% of eligible voters may not get him re-elected. That point is not today.
26% would be enough in a low turnout election if half the eligible voters stay home

The whole Resist/Indivisible movement is about making sure that all eligible voters on the left turn out, damn it.
So far I’m optimistic that this may have legs. A LOT of people who used to make excuses are getting involved. And one thing about humans: once we make an investment (of time and energy) we have a powerful incentive to keep it going.

This is not a rant and shouldn’t be in the pit where the usual suspects will just turn it into a “the snowflakes are crying again” shit show. I would like to be able to follow an actual discussion about this.
Because the particular parts of the press that are being criticized and now shut out are the ones that don’t pander to their views, who don’t spoon-feed them stuff that they already agree with, and that actually expect them to think for themselves. Trump supporters (now that he is in office and is showing his unvarnished self) are by definition not interested in hearing objective reporting that conflicts with their own pre-conceptions.
Not that hard to understand, really.
What I don’t understand is why all reputable news organizations are not boycotting these press briefings until this ban is rescinded.
I doubt that Spicer did this on his own without any direction from Trump.
I suppose I didn’t realize that that many conservatives have basically become like ostriches sticking their heads in the sand. I wonder if they genuinely believe this will turn out well. The alt right can defeat Hillary Clinton and the Democrats, but they can’t defeat reality.
