How did the shooter manage to get a gun into what should have been a rigorously secured area? Are the people who run security for Trump’s rallies so convinced that liberals are unarmed wimps that they’ve become lax? This has got to be determined before more rallies are held for either candidate. Someone either majorly dropped the ball or was complicit.
Something just doesn’t smell right. IF a bullet hit a teleprompter…its possible it was a fight in the crowd and then the SS got involved and we’re left with a mess.

As per MSNBC, citing the Butler County DA: the alleged shooter is dead. One attendee is also dead, and another is in critical condition.
Meanwhile, in the land of social media, my Trumpist cousin posted a call to arms based on this. I imagine she won’t be the only one: let’s hope THAT goes nowhere. Troubling times.
This is a good point. I hadn’t even considered the impact this might have on the election. This is a stage where people from both campaigns, both the candidates and their spokespeople, will be going around in public to make appearances. I can’t see how this won’t force changes.
Yes, let’s hope the call to arms remains rhetorical. But I’m terribly worried that there will be attempted, if not successful, assassinations of prominent Democrats.
Sorry, but strictly in my opinion, this is overly paranoid.
But I do agree that this seems less likely to affect vote totals than it is to foster an atmosphere of violence. Probably not against Biden himself, since even MAGAts can see how much chaos the Democrats are in, but Harris and prominent congressional figures are probably being more cautious.
CBS was showing footage of what appeared to be a body on a nearby rooftop. No idea how far that was from the stage.
I saw Obama speak in 2008 on a college campus. He was a candidate then. It was on a big open field and there was no screening or really any way to screen anyone.
If Republicans want to turn this into a “they started it” shitshow, I believe Paul Pelosi should be consulted. Fuck me, Trump even taunted the Pelosis following that attack.
The people who run security are the Secret Service. Someone fucked up no doubt. It will be interesting to see what happened. I’ve been involved in three different presidential security details. In one I was partnered with an agent. They are no joke. But they have to be right every minute every day. The bad guy has to be lucky once.
Of course at this point we don’t know who got hit with what. We don’t know the angles. Some of the victims may have been caught in the Secret Service crossfire.
