Fool, you have no conception.
How can we deal with a man who is bigger than Taft was when Taft did his boat-tipping thing?
(a)
Sir Tim and Lord Andrew have little to fear from this crowd, but we’re having fun.

One important thing about Trump’s hold on what I shall dub the Populist Evangelical school is that the way things work for those followers, first they identify someone as being the Chosen Deliverer, based on very limited inferences, but then, haveing been so annointed, the Chosen Deliverer becomes unchallengeable. To them, failing to keep faith once professed is what’s a real sin.
And that is something that goes along with the not supporting the words of Jesus and treating the Bible or the confession that “Jesus Is Lord” as mere magic amulets – because they largely did not arrive at their identity as evangelicals by study, reflection and conviction. Rather they became “Evangelicals” either by merely being taught that’s what they were by their parents, i.e. “it’s what you are supposed to be” , or through an emotional subjective experience, “hey, this is what gave me somethign to hold on to when I was in the pits”. So they just go along believing that the Bibe and Jesus just support what THEY already believe is the right way to live because of course they do and we’ll be angry at YOU if you point out otherwise.
Remember also that the grasroots of Populist Evangelicalism have been bombarded with two centuries with predispensationalist End Times preaching. The preachers have stopped putting predicted dates to it but they have kept beating the drum that any minute now ther will come the Great Tribulation. By now there are a lot out there in the crowd who are saying, well, get on with it and have the &^%$# Tribulation, let’s be done with that, after all, God says WE will win, right?

I don’t like challenging all members of a general religious tradition to stand up and rebuke their extremist groups.
There’s also Genesis 3:1: “Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made.”
I’ll grant that describing Trump as crafty is a stretch. But this passage is useful in reminding Christians that just because somebody is telling you what you want to hear and saying they’re your ally, doesn’t mean they’re telling you the truth.
Maybe if somebody told him it was an opportunity to steal a pair of shoes and socks.
Trump pushes back on allegations he inflated net worth, claims he was defamed | The Hill
Trump claims defamation and election interference by NY AG because she claims he inflated his net worth by $2.2 billion in filings for NY’s fraud case against him (cover your ears, allcaps in original):
“THE THING I HAVE IS A GREAT CASE BASED ON PHENOMENAL NUMBERS THAT SHOW A NET WORTH BILLIONS OF DOLLARS MORE THAN SHE VICIOUSLY & FALSELY CLAIMED, VERY LITTLE DEBT, BIG CASH, A POWERFUL DISCLAIMER CLAUSE, PAID OFF LOANS, NO DEFAULTS, “HAPPY” BANKS, GREAT ASSETS,” Trump said.
“I WAS DEFAMED BY NYS – ELECTION INTERFERENCE!”
Very Christ-like.
The thing the binds many right wing evangelical churches to Trump is grift. A lot of churches run on it and Trump is a grifter of biblical proportions.
I haven’t been able to find anything with reverse image searches but an image of a winged Trump has supposedly been making the rounds.
Picture this image of Lucifer with a heavily-shadowed Trump head – so much shadow that the only giveaway is that weird hair-like thing atop his head – edited in.
The stakes he is gambling are indeed frighteningly high. For us as well.
I am tempted to continue, but I don’t want to be visited by the FBI or secret service.
Not sure if this has been posted upthread already, but this book is 100% sincere, not a joke:
Sort of, it’s the book that the video I posted here is about.
Those ministers who support Trump I would ask pastor if it’s ok for me to commit adultery, lie, cheat, bear false witness …if they say no then I’d ask then why are you supporting someone who does all these things without repenting?
It’s been done. The answer usually boils down to “Any sin someone I agree with commits, no matter how heinous, is forgiven by God. Any sin someone I disagree with commits, no matter how trivial, is a sign of moral corruption and indicates that they hate God.”
Or in other words, IOKIARDI.
Were I God, I’d send a person to hell if they truly believed that. The upside for him would be that he would undoubtedly be reunited with his hero in short order.
Understandable. So how 'bout a minor rewrite?

MAGA must be crushed completely!

So like twenty-twenty, The Donald must lose.
Just looked on Amazon – it’s garnered a 1.5 star rating, with multiple savage reviews, including one with this headline: “The author has fallen out of his tree and hit his head!”
I like it.
Drifting of topic here but I read somewhere that the county jail that took the Trump mugshot is the actual owner of the image and, theoretically, is entitled to most (all?) of the money being made by Trump from mugs, t-shirts etc. The article also said that the figure is somewhere north of 7 million. I’m dubious but that would be great.
That’s what I wondered. Seems only right to me.
