Trump indicted

What song did you sing?

Too soon for “Ding Dong the Witch is Dead” in public, but I can’t help thinking that way.

I’m not happy about this. Of the three ripening cases — Stormy, Georgia election interference, and January 6 insurrection — only the second is both important, AND enough evidence that conviction is likely (IMHO). Stormy? Likely conviction, but not really important. Jan 6? Important, but conviction unlikely.

I was hoping the NY prosecutor would wait for the GA one to catch up, but no. I really think this will gain Trump more martyr votes than he will lose.

The subject line is wrong. He’s not been indicted, he’s been “INDICATED” … So sad.

I’m perfectly content. As I said in another thread, the Stormy Daniels case is the amuse bouche course.

It’s a crime. It’s charged as a felony. Bragg would not have brought an indictment without pretty close to a certainty about a conviction. He’s a cautious guy.

Before any of this can unfold, Trump will be indicted in at least the documents and January 6th cases.

Georgia is more in doubt because of what their state legislature is doing in their efforts to remove DA Fani Willis from her position, awarding themselves powers that no state has ever sought. It’s an immense overreach but it might be successful, at least in the short term.

If she isn’t removed, the soonest the Georgia case will ripen is the beginning of May. She needs to convene a regular grand jury to bring actual indictments because the special grand jury was not so empowered. I guess regular grand juries are not convened in the month of April in Georgia for some reason. Very odd.

It’s all going to take a long time, even this little case. I hope everyone gets comfortable.

LOL, Borowitz. Naturally.

Ditto for “I fought the law, and the law won”.
dammit

His police sheet will show us his real height and weight, and whether he wears a hair piece.

Ha! I forgot all about that one. I’d say the documents issue is slightly less important than the Georgia interference one, but slightly more likely than that to lead to a conviction. (Maybe I forgot because, politically, it’s partly neutered by Biden’s superficially similar actions).

Your post was reassuring. This is just the beginning.

That’s not how the system works, though. That’s just playing within Trump’s drama (hat tip to Josh Marshall). In a fair justice system they don’t coordinate for political effect, but rather go where the facts lead and indict when they have sufficient evidence.

This is how it’s supposed to work.

This is just the first. I would guess that even if he’s convicted he’d likely just get house arrest and a heavy fine. It’s the next round that I’m looking forward to, especially his election tampering in Georgia and the federal investigation. The Georgia things seems like a slam dunk, considering the idiot in chief was stupid enough to say what he said into what was basically a microphone. A federal charge and conviction would sink his ship.

True. I respect each prosecutor for doing what they see as right within their bailiwick. I’m just venting that, ideally, it would have played out in a different order (IMHO).

I’ll break out the sparkling grape juice.

That humiliation alone is worth the price of admission.

I don’t know, a bunch of January 6th guys will vote for him in hope of pardons.
You don’t believe that a conviction will just fuel his fans, and prove them right that the Democrats are out to get him?

That’s what, a few hundred votes? Come on.

If they’re in jail, they can’t vote and the entire lot of them doesn’t amount to much.

I was being facetious, but his fans will not believe him to be guilty.

Champagne is for when he wears the orange jumpsuit. This is but the first step, so I am celebrating with…a Manhattan.

What do you drink when all the appeals are over?
