CNN sez the arraignment will be at 2:15 Eastern time, so lots of bloviating by reporters about “unprecedented” etc for a few hours.
I don’t like to rub salt in a wound, but…just above the headline (admittedly in much smaller type), it says “Satire from the Borowitz Report.”
No television cameras but there sure will be some professional photographers about.
The most extreme thing in this case could be home confinement with no access to internet or even phone, perhaps. Because he’s the leading Republican candidate for president, the line to walk is a tough one for the judge.
Another thing that could happen is for the Manhattan DA to lodge additional charges based on Trump’s threats.
No orange jumpsuit, I’m afraid.
Scene:
Such a divisive president.
I’m more concerned about what will happen if a gag order is issued, Trump returns to Florida and ignores it, and then ignores the judge’s summons to return to court based on the gag order violation.
With DeSantis’s promise to not cooperate with an extradition, things could get ugly fast.
What do we know about the presiding judge?
Is DeSantis’s cooperation even needed? Would he normally help with such things?
No, and no. But we’re in extremely abnormal times.
Re the judge, good judge with an excellent reputation. Even Trump’s lawyers have said so.
This is my question as well. What power does a Governor have in a case like this? What is he going to do, send in the Florida State Police to interfere with the Feds? Or, is Mr DeSantis just posturing for the rubes?
This case isn’t the Feds, though. It’s New York. Specifically, Manhattan. They will need cooperation from Florida law enforcement to facilitate an arrest in Florida.
The question is to what extent DeSantis is willing to violate the Constitution in these matters. I don’t know how tight his control is over Florida law enforcement.
From the Wikipedia article Extradition law in the United States
So, DeSantis has to be willing to defy a Federal Court order to refuse Trump’s extradition.
Kentucky v Dennison? Not David Dennison by any chance?
Apparently Yahoo News is reporting that there will be no mug shot, depriving him of the opportunity for merchandising.
He apparently has a film crew following him since he left Florida. “Behind the scenes” access. What a spectacle.
Here is an AP article about him:
One thing to note is that he is Colombian, which may not be that relevant given he moved to the US when he was 6; however, Judges in Colombia have in many cases not been intimidated by threats to their life by Drug Lords, Guerilla Groups or the Military so if he is in that vein I don’t think Trump or his supporters will faze him.

The E Jean Carrol case is a defamation lawsuit between private citizens, not a criminal charge by the government.
I’d assume that it will make it easier for Carrol to gain access to the DNA than by asking for it straight from Trump, but I would expect that it’s a more complicated process to request it than if she was a police officer working a separate case against Trump.
George Santos made an appearance at the courthouse. All of the howler monkeys showing up for the chief baboon. It’s like corrupt bishops rushing to kiss the new Pope’s ring.
