I am shocked, shocked to learn that our revered former President (and Statesman??) could be accused of making statements of derision for simply personal or political benefit! The very idea of a former world leader stooping to such a low, low standard is beyond the pail!! (Beyond the pale?? Well it is beyond something!!)

I did not know the source of the phrase although I was aware of the proper spelling. I was attempting humor by purposely using the wrong spelling to further accent the faint praise of the ‘statesman’ like 45th president.
(I added the proper spelling because I hated appearing so ignorant even as a character and I thought it enhanced the joke. It turned out OttoDaFe capped my joke with his “Beyond the orange” comment. My thanks to both of you.)
