Yeah, I know. I hate most of the things he and his cohort are doing/attempting, and yet…
Increasingly I see a flood of suggested youtube vids about Trump stinking. As in, literally smelling so bad people around him are holding their breathes/fanning away air/looking repulsed.
When I first noticed them they were generally tied to the idea that he was using adult diapers. Later a whole spate of “see, you can see he uses a catheter in this shot”. Then the general “he just stinks overall,” and just yesterday I saw one that claimed his breath is so offensive that at some international meeting he was provided with a glass of some cloudy appearing liquid instead of the normal water all the other attendees were given, with the commenter suggesting it was some concoction to supposedly refresh his breath for the sake of those near him, and that this offended Trump to the point he deliberately refused to drink so as to omit as much offensive air as possible.
Okay. Some of these things are more likely to be true than others. He’s an elderly man, it isn’t unknown for elderly people to have various incontinence problems. My mother had problems with urinary leakage for decades, likely due to damage related to her pregnancies.
OTOH, the idea that the Secret Service would ignore the hosts providing Trump with glasses of who-knows-what without his knowledge and consent? Ludicrous.
But on a higher level, doesn’t this come across as utterly mean and childish taunting over some physical disability? “Trumps a big ole stinky fucker”?
There are so many other things he can be legitimately attacked for.
To me it comes across as bullshit clickbait*, at least without a cite. The whole idea that Trump smells bad, true or not, isn’t anything new, but if you’re seeing an increasing flood of youtube videos about that, it sounds like youtube is targeting you with those videos. If you delete all those videos from your history and, at the very least, watch that type of content from a private browser (not logged in, or logged in with a different email address) that should slow down how many of them you’re being served.
With all his latest swelling and bruising, maybe he has a “weeping” lymphodema.
That can cause a horrible stink.
God, I hope he doesn’t discover Axe spray.
That would be unpleasant.
He deserves any ribbing and embarrassment he gets.
If there was ever any sympathy in my heart, it left when he started talking nasty about other politicians and average people.
On a moral level, you have a point, and I generally prefer to be higher up on the moral mountain than my enemies… but…
Here’s the thing with Trump in particular. Call him a cheat, and more often than not he’ll take it as a compliment (ie If you ain’t cheating, you ain’t trying). Same for breaking a deal, same for being a dictator, pretty much every single point that infuriates us he basks in our “liberal tears”.
Make fun of his appearance though, be it being stinky, ugly, micro-pene, or worst of all weak and he loses it. So if I want to insult Trump to his hypothetical face, and for him to feel anything, it’s going to go that route.
Not to mention the moral equivalency - his insults to others are almost always this low or worse, and with far less fair standards, yet are shouted to the world with the air of one of the largest (in fact, several of the largest) soapboxes with which to spread them.
I’m fully aware that “he did it, so it makes it right for me/us” isn’t anywhere close to a rational moral standard. But when it comes to someone who has done this much damage to so very many people, he can join Putin, Hitler and several other wastes of humanity where I’ll quote Mal from Firefly to sum up my feelings:
Mercy is the mark of a great man. (stab) Guess I’m just a good man. (stab) Well, I’m alright.
Given that Trump is the aspiring king of “utterly mean and childish taunting”, and this is actually one of his least despicable characteristics…you get back what you give. He’s broadly responsible for lowering the public discourse to this level, so it seems fitting he should become a target of it.
He may be unaware of it, since he lives with it, and everyone around him is afraid to say anything. An odiferous version of The Emperor’s New Clothes, if you will.
I don’t care two pins for Trump’s feelings, assuming he has anything recognizable as such. Yes, he is a very damaged person, and much of that damage may have started out as not his own fault. Nevertheless, it is true for most people that they bear some measure of responsibility for their own actions, and I don’t believe he is one of the fairly rare exceptions. By those actions, he has abdicated all claim for human sympathy.
Mean and childish? Yeah, ok, I’ll cop to that. OTOH, he’s one of the most consistently cruel “leaders” of his time, and deserves every single sling and arrow thrown his way. I won’t lose any sleep over any of it.
He has claimed to be the healthiest president ever, including providing letters stating that from doctors. So it’s fair to discuss any evidence to the contrary.
This 100%. I do not have one molecule of sympathy for him. Or for the people around him who enable him and at the same time are offended by him. He needs an intervention, a group of about a dozen people who corner him and stand around him and tell him how the cow ate the cabbage and that he smells like the cabbage after the cow ate it. Why are they all tippy-toeing around him about this? His family members and world leaders don’t have to worry about being primaried, FFS!
If I were a world leader, I would be wary of setting off the deepest negative self-feelings of a man who has control of trade sanctions and nuclear weapons. And the only person in his family who may be safe from revenge is his current wife. On the other hand, to do something like an intervention, you have to actually care about the person enough to take the trouble.
I don’t care if the insults against him are just or unjust. No sympathy for the man doing his best to end Democracy. He was always a slimy entitled man-child, but he is something far worse since 2016.
I have sympathy for the families torn apart by his policies that target undocumented people, refugees and asylum seekers but none for the man responsible for the cruelty.
Let me please introduce myself, I’m a man of wealth and taste:
Just call me Deluded Dopey Dotard Don
Cause I’m in need of some restraint
So if you meet me
Have some courtesy
Have some sympathy, and some taste
Use all your well-learned politesse
Or I’ll lay your soul to waste
and throw a tanTump in the White House
Oh, man…now you’ve let him ruin one of The Rolling Stones most popular songs. Don’t you dare do a rendition of Immigrant Song; I have enough ethical conflict about listening to Led Zeppelin as it is.
I do have a little sympathy for him, but not over his odor issues, nor for people making fun of those. Rather, it’s because I suspect that he has never once, in his entire life, ever been truly happy. And it’s sad to think of a human being existing in that state.
Plus, of course, if he ever had been happy, he almost certainly wouldn’t have become such a horrible person.
