Mr. Trump’s designer, now unfortunately dead these thirty years and more, appears to have been gay: Americans, straight or gay revere homosexual taste and style as light years ahead of the more old-fashioned staid old WASP reserve and Old Euro lightness of touch — I am reminded of the spectacular triumph of a gay couple in The Drew Carey Show, played sympathetically by Adam West and Max Gail. Mr. Trump is all about the bling and as a New Yorker has more flamboyant needs in furnishing. Meissen shepherdesses are no more his liking than to any of the presidents since after Bush the First.
It seems acceptable, despite the need for sunglasses, but not especially comfortable. But then Trump prefers Culture to Comfort. None of his family look well at ease.
However it can definitely be said this style in gold would impress many foreigners at his and lower levels, from China, Hong Kong, India, The Gulf States etc etc, who may emulate him and be awed by his richness and wanton display.
I would think anything that keeps him away from the levers of power can only be a good thing.
