Trump New York White House possible-Complications?

I’ve read here(and several other places) that our Prez-Elect feels more comfortable in his New York abode, Trump Tower, and is asking how often he “has” to stay in The White House.
My question is: Will Congress and citizens have as much access to him if he holes up in his very sweet suite on the 66th floor of Trump Tower. I also don’t see any place there for the offices of those that are supposed to be close to the President. I’m sure there are other problems with this possible scenario…but I haven’t chewed my morning coffee yet.

The cost of flying AF One every night/morning. Plus Secret Service, press pool, random advisors.

That’s funny! Do you really think he’s going to go back to W.D.C. to do business every day? He wants to stay in New York, and only go back when he is legally required to do so…which might be a problem.

Considering he gets security briefings every day, yes.
There’s also the problem of security around Trump Tower. Can it be made as secure as the W.H.?
Where are the flight paths of nearby airports?

What if he needs to evacuate? How does the motorcade get through snarled traffic?

The Secret Service, as tough and restrictive as they are(and they damn well should be-Good job, guys!) serve at the whim of the President…and this President doesn’t like to have his whims denied.

I don’t think Trump realizes that one of the reasons that the President lives above his office is because he is always working. Or maybe he does, which is why he’s so concerned about how much he has to commit to the job. I bet Obama told him to expect to work about 16 hours a day, and read about 200 pages of briefings a night. Trump’s trying to figure out if that’s really going to be true.

“Hey, Pence, take care of this, willya?”

The job only takes that long if you engage in it. Bush 2 spent a third of his time clearing brush on his ranch, and that worked out for him. For the rest of us, not so much, of course.

Sorry if this is a drift (I know little about the topic), but to read Trump’s Monument to Golden, Tacky, Tasteless Trashy Nightmare suite referred to as a sweet suite made me bust a gut.

He was probably informed that gilding the WH is too ambitious a redecorating plan. He should be forced to live there, though. /drift

Well, it’s not to my taste.
But, then again, I have taste.

But even W was having meetings with staff at the ranch. I’ve read that he was also known to start working early in the morning when in Washington (he liked to schedule meetings for 7 am. Personally, I think it was a dick move. He just had to wake up, get dressed, and head downstairs. His staff had to drive to the office, and probably had to endure a tedious security check).

Trump is prone to lying. I don’t really believe he needs very little sleep. My recollection is that he doesn’t like to schdule his day; his preference is to just show up and “see what develops”. This is completely different than a President, whose entire day is scheduled down to the minute, probably weeks in advance.

It would not surprise me in the least that Trump is terrified about the task ahead of him. He’s frantically trying to figure out how much he has to do. He’s going to quickly realize that his time is no longer his own, and nobody is going to tolerate him being incommunicado for days at a time.

It looks like he use the same interior decorators as the Husseins and the Gaddafis.

Well the security briefings are easy; he can get those anywhere (isn’t he getting the President’s Daily Brief now)? There’s no possible way Trump Tower can be made anywhere nearly as secure as the White House, unless of course they evict all the non-Trump related tenants and close it to general public.

According to this Mayor de Blasio is counting on Trump moving to DC in January and then they can let up on the security. What happens if Trump refused to move (or only moves part-time)? Can de Blasio decide that the security restrictions having too much of a negative impact on local residents & businesses and simply refuse to cooperate with the Secret Service requests? What happens then? Unlike DC in NYC the municipal government isn’t simply a creation of Congress.

Guess this could also go in the Broken Promises thread.

Securing Dubya on his ranch was a substantially less disruptive effort than securing a building in middle of one of the largest and densest cities in the world.

And I don’t think The Donald wants to spend a third of his time in Trump Tower. He wants to spend less than a third of his time in Washington.

My prediction, though, is that Trump will, eventually, spend almost all his time in DC. Why? It’s obvious’ what Trump loves is money and himself, and he’ll find he has more ability to get those things in DC:

  1. What’s more lucrative; building golf courses and office buildings, or selling influence, government appointments, and national secrets? Obviously, the latter. The profit in real estate pales in comparison to the money Trump can make selling out his country.

  2. Trump is old news in New York City. He’s famous, but in DC he’s President famous. He’ll soon learn just how much more ego-striking you can get in the White House than can be had in Trump Tower.

Could he use this as a dodge to get taxpayers to pay for security and upkeep of Trump Towers?

Don’t forget Trump also has estates in Florida and New Jersey for the Secret Service to secure. Yes it’s going to be expensive, they’ll be much easier to secure than a skyscraper open to the general public.

It could use some maintenance.

My Visit to the Trump Dump… Sorry, Trump Tower

Does this mean Mar-a-Lago will be the new Camp David?

Oh dear, that suite is just too too sweet for a President. He should be forced to down size into the White House like all other Presidents.

But seriously the fact that he has a “cup of tea” and two “candy dishes” is just beyond the pale.

That’s after he leaves office.
A bit different from a President who wants to commute.

Are you saying that Obama should stay in The White House after his term is up? If not, what does your post have to do with Trump running government business from Trump Tower?
