I can’t decide who I detest hearing about more in the news these days, Trump BS or Royal family BS.
I’ve only heard about the Royal family BS, so I guess I’m doing a good job of avoiding the other subject. I don’t even want to know what the latest BS might be.
Here in New York, we have a third option: Andrew Cuomo.
Being American, I’d rather hear about the Royals. Have heard nonstop Trump Trump Trump for 4 years so at least the royals aren’t so familiar.
But maybe for our British Dopers it would be the exact opposite.
The only “Royal BS” I’ve heard about is the stuff with Prince Andrew and the stuff with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Since both seem to be legitimate issues, and I’ve only seen them reported on at about the normal level of most people in the news, I’m okay with it.
Trump was mentioned every single day when he was President. I’m very glad that has decreased. I heard about him at CPAC (including how much support he now has), and his cease-and-desist letter to Republican fundraisers, saying they can’t use his name if they give any money to anti-Trump Republicans.
I’d much rather hear about trump. His actions can effect the lives of millions. From what I can tell the royals actions don’t even effect the people living in London.
Only one of the two topics can possibly affect me personally. If I never ever have to see or hear of the T-word again, my life will be vastly improved. And I’d rather hear about the royals than the Kardashians, which seem to come up on the Google news feed way too often.
I’d much rather hear about the Royals. It’s more like a soap opera than anything that affects people personally. And if I never hear the word Trump again for the rest of my life, I’ll die a happy man.
None of the royals’ image makes me want to punch their face on sight, nor their voice tempt me to jam chopsticks in my ears.
This. And the Royals can’t fuck up my life, so I’m fine with hearing about them.
I guess I’ll go with The Disgraced Ex-President by default, since I really could not care less about those other people, so they don’t really impact me. I know right where the mute button is on all the TV remotes, and am pretty quick on the draw.
I’m neutral about the Royals, but I’m always excited to read something bad about Trump. (investigations, stupid press releases, etc)
I felt different when he was in office, but I’m not yet tired of hearing about our disgraced former president.
I’ll pick Trump but only because he obviously made some deal with Satan to maintain his influence on legislators and voters. (Somewhere Satan is saying, “Don’t you dare pin this on me!”) I couldn’t care less about the royal situation. I wish them all well in the sense that I generally wish me fellow human beings well. But I don’t understand the fascination many Americans have with the royal family. But then I can’t explain the popularity of Paris Hilton or the Kardashians either.
Trump. By a mile. The “Royals” may be awful but the awfulness is still within “normal” parameters.
I’d much rather read about the royals.
Can we just put both in a burlap bag and toss it into the river?
It is such a relief not to hear about he who shall not be mentioned every waking hour of every day. The British Royal family is fairly harmless to me, so I guess I’d rather hear that BS only slightly ahead of the other BS.
I don’t care about the Royals so hearing about them in the news is rather meaningless and is basically white noise. I only knew there was some interview with them because there was a commercial about it before another show. I managed to get through the past 4 years by not watching the news and changing the channel or muting whenever Trump was mentioned and if I never have to see or hear from him again, that would be a dream.
This. And still rooting that it gets better and better, and the chances are good.
Although I am not really neutral about the so called Royals. Nasty bunch. But irrelevant enough. And this interview might hasten their demise…
That’s how I feel too. Pretty much regardless of what happens, the Royal Family is a TV show- kind of like an unscripted reality show.
What Trump says can actually influence people in my nation and state to think and do awful, stupid things. That’s a far bigger threat to me personally than hearing about the dirty laundry of foreign nobility.
