Trump, potential incarceration, and Secret Service protection

Honestly it’s not that complicated. I’m sure the Secret Service puts a huge amount of resources into keeping one person alive but they have to deal with a person who is out in the public and who has the authority to overrule the security people who work for him.

Those two problems wouldn’t apply to Trump in prison. He could be kept isolated from other prisoners and any other risky situations and he would not be allowed to interfere with security decisions.

Like I said- it is not impossible, but it wont happen. I know, we all wanna see trump in an orange jumpsuit but it aint gonna happen. I have showed you cites from a Secret Service agent saying it is too problemant, and writer after writer says no.

I thought we had discussed this to death already. Couple of trailers behind razor wire inside a secured location. One for Trump, one for SS detail. Private yard with mini golf (one club, no windmill, shitty stained surface.) Lawyer visits. TV with 2 Channels (CNN and PBS). Meals delivered. (No hamberders, no Ketchup)

Those meals would come from the prison kitchen, of course. If it’s meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and peas; and bread and butter and a fruit cup, then that’s what it is. Ketchup and other condiments, would be available, of course, as they are to all inmates. But nothing specially prepared, unless Trump has some dietary need that we don’t know about (and “But I want _____ today” doesn’t count). So, no hamberders unless they’re on the day’s menu.

He would, of course, be able to avail himself of the prison canteen, so he could get all the potato chips, candy bars, and Diet Coke he wanted. In the local jail here, ramen noodles are a very popular choice to buy from the canteen, as they provide an in-between-meal snack. Take a tip from my clients who have been in there, Donnie: Let your tap water run really hot for best results with your ramen noodles.

If only we had somebody here who was experienced with security conditions in the New York state prison system.

Yep - or even someone who is familiar with how many small state prisons have closed fairly recently in the NYC area * which are still owned by the state and are currently being used as shelters or transitional housing. (I think one is currently completely unused) . Which could easily be changed to housing a single “incarcerated individual” if necessary.

* And they have approval to close five more, although which ones has not been decided.

Trump is not going to avoid incarceration because of security complications or because the Secret Service doesn’t want to deal with it. He may not be incarcerated, but if he isn’t, those will not be the reasons.

Here’s a great idea for a play, if anyone’s interested, one set, 5 characters:

Trump alone on a stage at curtain rise, in a cell, bald, wearing prison garb. At either end of the stage is a man in a suit, with earpiece, seated, obviously a Secret Service agent. The tension in the play is: Will the SS guys be able (they are willing, big Trump fans) to assist him in his master plan to escape jail, and once again MAGA? Or are they afraid of getting caught aiding and abetting a jailbreak? Various schemes are floated, some more ludicrous than others, some between SS agents while (they think) Trump is asleep, and the changing of the two agents for two others shows different factions of eagerness to aid and abet among the SS, some of whom are openly breaking rules for Trump (smuggling in hamburgers, etc.) and some who are more cautious.

I feel it’s more likely they will look at a closed housing building inside a still operating facility rather than a closed facility. This would allow them to use the support infrastructure that already exists for the operating facility rather than have to create everything.

Just my opinion but I doubt Trump has a lot of fans among in the Secret Service. They’re not like the MAGA crowd who only get to see Trump at staged events. His Secret Service detail has to actually spend all day in Trump’s real world, watching how he acts when the cameras are off. I’m guessing they are all disgusted by him.

It’s definitely more likely to be a closed building inside a still operating facility - just saying that the small, “no longer a prison” facilities would also be an option.

Sure. They could do lots of things. But they won’t. At least for the original sentencing.

Did you ever look into what usually happens when a white collar first offender with over thirty felony convictions is totally uncooperative, violates judge’s orders repeatedly and is unrepentant is sentenced?

Plus multiple civil judgements, continuing to defame the other party in one of judgements, and ten contempt of court citations while continuing to publicly violate the same gag order. If $90 million in civil penalties won’t get him on the straight path, can he be rehabilitated? Or in his case, habilitated?

Old dogs…new tricks? Seems highly unlikely here.

The only thing that would ever get Trump to change would be some sort of psychoactive drug, and that would get off topic.

Legal question: Is there anything in the law that says “prison” must mean an actual prison, or why house arrest wouldn’t or couldn’t count? Confining Trump to the Trump Tower would be house confinement but given the luxury of it, hardly the same effect of prison.

So “won’t” rather than “Can’t” I can agree with that.
As I’ve said, likely one year, suspended with conditions. Which conditions he’ll break and get a stern talking to.

I never said can’t. I quoted an expert who said “too problematic”.

Yeah, ot maybe hard time.

I don’t know legally, but I don’t want home confinement if that is Trump Tower or Mar-A-Lago or some other posh resort. A pop-up camper would be fine, or maybe a rathole hotel. Something with less comfort than your average college dorm.

Isolated in a supermax would fit the bill, but I don’t think that will happen.

Come to think of it, Trump doesn’t drink alcohol or smoke pot, so maybe having to share a college dorm room is a fitting punishment, communal bathroom and all.

Anyone know where Barron is attending? Maybe it could be like that Rodney Dangerfield docudrama, Back To School.

I think the expert should define “too” and “problematic” in this situation. I don’t see a serious problem, although I’m not an expert.
