Will Trump be jailed within a year of this date?

I am talking about a real jail and/or prison, not some weak-ass house arrest, folks.

Even if he is convicted in a year, which I doubt, he will get house arrest.

Within the year, the Supreme Court will make it illegal to abridge the “rights” of ALL the assholes.

Small request- Let’s try not to get this tossed into the Pit, o.k.?

While there’s the possibility he spends time in prison, it won’t be within a year from now.

I voted “no” only because I don’t think justice is that quick. If he lives another 10 years, I’d put my money on him spending some time behind bars.

I haven’t taken a deep dive into the federal charges. They seem both more serious and easier to prove.

I believe the felony charges in New York are a stretch and he will at most be found guilty of misdemeanors.

In either case I think it will be delayed for more than a year. A year isn’t that unusual when both sides aren’t dragging their feet. Trump will delay as much as possible.

a year from now of course he wont be in jail.

His trial is scheduled for December, half a year from now, and if he fires his defense attorneys (or they quit due to legitimate reasons, because their client refuses to obey their instructions to keep his mouth shut)—then he can postpone the trial for another half a year.

By then he will be the official Candidate running for president, and he will pardon himself . And the only way to declare
the pardon illegal will be to take it to the Supreme court. which will take another six months. and by then Trump will be back in the White House .

He can only pardon himself (if allowed) on federal charges. He’s also facing state charges.

I fear he’s most likely to drop dead from stress and his crappy diet before he dons an orange jumpsuit. He has an amazing ability to avoid responsibility for anything he does.

Not sure I’m following you. How does he pardon himself before he’s inaugurated? Candidates and presidents-elect have no federal power.

You know that.
And I know that.
And everybody over the age of 9 knows that.

But Trump honestly does not know it–I’m sure he actually believes that he can do anything he wants (such as declassify top-secret documents just by “thinking about it”)
And yes, when he is the candidate, he will sign something that he calls a presidential pardon, and scream that he already has the right to sign it, because the elections are rigged, and he is the true president already.
And corrupt lawyers like Giuliani will back him up, appealing all the way to the Supreme court. That’s a process that will take several months, and by then Trump will be inaugurated, and will sign another pardon for himself.

So even if Trump is convicted, there will be no jail time.
And I doubt if Trump will ever be convicted anyway…it only takes 1 Maga cultist on each jury.
And more than 1 of every 12 Americans is a cultist.

I voted no, though I would like to see it. I think the best we can hope for is that Trump dies soon, and in a way that doesn’t cause any backlash or reasonable suspicion.

You know what happens when a Presidential candidate pardons someone? The same thing as when I do it. Absolutely nothing, and everyone ignores it. Why would that even go to court?

But he absolutely will do everything he can to delay, delay, delay, and he can almost certainly delay it enough to miss the OP’s date.

I voted yes because a man can dream. And I don’t believe in jynxing polls.

Never mind. (Shut up, Nanny Discourse.)

I voted no, with this proviso:

I can envision circumstances where he will be and I can envision circumstances where he won’t be. I do think it’s only a matter of time. But probably a bit longer than a year. Except in certain circumstances.

I voted “No”, and being wrong would make me happy. 7/1/2024, can we fast-forward?

Trump may not be in jail within a year, but Giuliani has an excellent shot at serving at the peoples’ pleasure in some resort du punishment within that period.

Yeah, that was my reaction. The courts are not going to entertain that nonsense. It would be the same as when all the Trump attorneys made all that noise about election fraud then got their asses handed to them in court. All those cases were dead on arrival.

ETA: And I’d imagine any officer of the court who dared to bring that trash in front of a judge would be drawn and quartered. Judges don’t care how much Trump rants.
