Another Trump idea he spent all of 30 seconds thinking about which any person can conclude is a terrible idea in about 60 seconds. Paying wages for prison staff in the bay area? Transportation for staff 24/7. Updating the infrastructure on and outdated hard to reach location.

The only issue Trump will worry about is whether the walls are still strong enough to hold up the big TRUMP SUPERMAX sign he wants to put on top.
I suspect somebody in Trump’s inner circle is a Russian agent. They’re putting these ideas into Trump’s head as a means of weakening America.
I’ve read todays news. I agree this proposal is probably a diversion.
Intended to take away the focus from other policy changes.
I hope that’s the case and the Alcatraz proposal will quietly go away.
Imho Reopening a small prison at such a high cost would never get funding in the National budget.

He’ll give up on this as soon as someone tells him the name Alcatraz is from Spanish. He won’t rename it, because the infamy, intimidation, macho factor, etc. is at least partially in the name, but he’ll be damned if he uses a mexican word for anything.
Worse - it’s Spanish derived from Arabic! 
No-I’m assuming that he doesn’t know/care about the laws, rules and regulations, and I am asking how he might get around them.
His approach appears to be to ignore the laws, rules and regulations when they are inconvenient.
When you’re a big star, they let you do it.
