Please stop trying to play the Liberal Hypocrisy card. It’s just another way you try and score points for whatever fucked up tally you have in your head about this, and most of the time it’s not applicable at all. You end up looking like a douchebag.

This isn’t a rebuttal. It’s a complaint about my pointing out the use of inconsistent standards.

I keep asking Dems to remember “what is your goal?” with regard to what they will do and how they will interact with their fellow citizens over the next few years. Bricker, what is your goal? And since you’ve acted basically the same way for the 11 ½ years that I’ve been posting on these forums, how is your conduct doing as far as helping you achieve that goal? From my point of view, it’s doing miserably, since people keep telling you that you’re a dick and you haven’t really changed anyone’s mind about anything. Isn’t there some pithy maxim about doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result?

Your actions show, however that you don’t care, that you are sure that you know better than we do what kind of help we need and what fashion that help should be delivered in, because you’ve been doing the same thing for at least 11 years now. :rolleyes:

FWIW, I just threw you a bone in the Pit too. It’s actually attitudes toward people like you that make me feel this place is an echo chamber. There are some Grade-A conservative assholes on this board, but you ain’t one of 'em.

That said, it’s not like all liberals on this board treat conservatives that way, the issue is just that a handful of them are so rude their 2 cents stand out more than anyone else being civil. The same things happens with the sexists, and the racists. I have a problem with sexism on this board and sometimes it does feel ‘pervasive’ – but if I sat down and thought about it, I could probably narrow the brunt of my frustration down to about ten posters.

I really like Bricker’s posts. I find his arguments well-reasoned, logical, patient, and careful to distinguish between assumptions and facts, as well as between what is accepted according to the law versus what might be felt to be morally correct. I’ve learned a lot from his posts. Often I don’t agree with him, especially where opinions are concerned (e.g., I’m pretty rabidly pro-choice, where I believe he is firmly pro-life), but when I don’t agree with him, I usually understand why. I find his posting some of the most valuable on the SDMB.

I’ve also found that he gets piled on for these very features. He has to justify himself many times more than a left-leaning poster does. He gets attacked for being nit-picky when it’s pretty clear to me that he’s actually just trying to get at the truth, whatever that may be. And people like me don’t defend him, because I don’t want to get piled on too. But eh, since this is the subject of the thread, whatever, and it’s about time I said publicly about Bricker what I’ve thought for years.
