Trump sued by Stormy Daniels over hush payment

You can have all of mine, there’s about fifty or so. They think I don’t know, but I’m on to them. That “little old lady walking her doggie”, totally Moscow Centre…

CNN says search warrant was for more than one payment to a woman. 2 women were paid? 2 counts against Cohen? If you can’t get trump, get everyone around him and one of them will start remembering. Straight from the end of “Goodfellas.”

I’ve also heard that, also under review are (this one is developing fast):

  1. His Taxi medallion dealings
  2. A $150k payment to Trump from a Ukraine oligarch during the 2015 campaign
  3. Payments made to the National Enquirer

A couple of more points to add to list:

  1. Cohen was working in the offices of Squire, Patton, and Boggs.
  2. They are the lead attorneys for Cambridge Analytica.
  3. And are the main lobbyists for Gazprom, the Russian oil company.

Another lawyer named Cohn in Trump’s life (this one spelled without the “e”) was Roy Cohn, the utterly unscrupulous sleazebucket who was a mentor to Trump in his youth. Cohn was chief counsel to the notorious Joe McCarthy which tells you about all you need to know, and taught Trump many of the dirty tricks and intimidation tactics that Trump used in later life. If similarities are noted between Trump and McCarthy’s smear tactics, it’s not a coincidence.

“Crap law school” is an understatement. The law website Above the Law rated it the worst law school in America; it’s been sued for fraud and misrepresentation by its students; the vast majority of its students are part-time; around three-quarters of its graduates can’t get a job, and nearly half can’t even pass the bar exam; it’s been sanctioned by the American Bar Association for lax admission standards, and “law professor David Frakt described Cooley’s 2015 entering class as ‘statistically the worst entering class of law students in the history of American legal education at an ABA-Accredited law school’.”

Trump: “only the best people.” ™

And I (among many others, I’m sure) lifted it to use in my own social media, lol.

we could have 2 impeachments in 20 years due to failure of 2 guys to keep their pants on.

Conan O’Brien on Trump’s comments about not knowing about the $130,000 payment to hush Stormy Daniels:
Trump: All I know is, it wasn’t enough.

Michael Avenatti right now on the 11th Hour…

  1. We have been asked not to release the sketch.

  2. There may be no need to release the sketch.

Pretty much live so no cite.

Sounds to me like Stormy identified the man who threatened her.

More likely, the FBI already knows who Cohen uses to do his dirty work and don’t want Avenatti going after him on TV when they can be going after him in real life.

amazed the media does not call this stormgate or porngate. Guess they finally got tired of tacking gate onto every scandal.

Maybe we’ve entered a new era of scandal, and every scandal from here out will be Stormy Something.

To be fair, men have struggled with that for a long time.

King David comes to mind.

This analysis of the situation in this article is interesting to me https://www.popehat.com/2018/04/09/the-search-of-trump-lawyer-michael-cohens-office-what-we-can-infer-immediately/ (I’m not familiar with the site it’s on, I just followed a link to this article). This isn’t the kind of search warrant that gets rubber-stamped, it’s one that requires a lot of scrutiny and multiple approvals. Also, if I understand the way this kind of warrant works, while all of the files will go through review before any investigator gets to see them to ensure that they are related to something illegal, there’s nothing that limits them to only illegal activities involved in the Stormy case directly, anything illegal that they find is usable.

Here’s an interesting take from a site called “Above The Law”, which I believe is considered a high quality legal blog: Clown Lawyer Michael Cohen Gonna Learn Today - Above the Law

Let’s not joke about assassination.

Popehat is a very highly regarded legal blog.

There could be a very interesting problem coming: What do you do if the evidence against Trump is extremely damning, but before the case is ready he goes and does something like try to start a war to deflect attention?

My guess is that they would have to call an emergency closed door session of Congress, present the damning evidence, and hope for a quick impeachment followed by an arrest or something. I’m not quite sure how the legality of this works out, but let’s say you absolutely know, with unambiguous documentary evidence, of serious felonies that even Republicans would agree with, and then before you can legally move on it Trump pulls some stunt that you know his successor would not approve of and which could do terrible harm to people?

Interesting times.

I don’t know if it’s been asked, but what is the quickest realistic (in a logistics sense, not political) time frame that a president can be removed from office via impeachment/conviction?

1 day for impeachment, and 1 day for trial/deliberation/conviction?
Or is that wildly optimistic even if the entire Congress agrees?
