Trump sued by Stormy Daniels over hush payment

Just curious…was your father-in-law one of those screaming to impeach Clinton back when lying to the country was a bad thing to do?

To quote one of the dumber Republicans of semi-recent years, bring it on.

Maybe it’s time we had the big bloodletting. See what shakes out.

You gotta remember, the troglodyte American totally believes, down to the spine, that they are the majority. Failing that, the majority of “real” Americans. That’s why they believe in dat ol’ Devil voter fraud. That’s why Il Douche can say Hillary got millions of illegal votes, because they already believe that. They didn’t point and laugh, they nodded and stroked their chin.

Brother, if the Democrats were cynical enough and organized enough, and had enough money…to recruit hordes of brown people and move them from polling place to polling place…without screwing it up!..then you might just as well surrender. All your base are belong to us.

The subpoenas pertain only to the Manafort case, and they are subpoenas for witnesses. Meaning trial prep. Don’t let this bother you. It’s very routine.

I don’t remember. I’ll have to ask. We didn’t live near them during most of the Clinton years, so I our interactions were more limited. Now, my father-in-law lives in my house, so the opportunity for these conversations is vastly increased.

I do know one thing, though. If he says that Clinton should have been impeached, he will point out that what Clinton did, both the affair and the lie, happened while he was actually president. Whatever Trump did happened before he was president. That will be all the difference he needs.

Of course both the violations of the Emoluments Clause, and the attempts to obstruct justice, all happened (and are happening) AFTER he became president.

But no doubt your father-in-law is as skilled at ‘fingers in ears, lalalalala’ as are most Trump fans.

And all of the other things might have started before he was President, but none of them have stopped.

Trump said on April 5th that he did not know about the payment to Ms. Daniels, and that he did not know where Michael Cohen got the money to make that payment. The affair may have been before Trump’s presidency, but the lie about it was this year.

Cite.

That may not be good enough for you father-in-law.

Given that FoxNews doesn’t cover those things, he probably doesn’t believe they have happened at all. Actually, Fox does talk about the obstruction allegation, but they then say it never happened. Being president, Trump has the authority to dismiss Comey for any reason, or no reason.

My FIL actually thinks that Trump is a crook, but he thinks that all politicians are crooks. Trump is at least better than that bitch Hillary or that N Obama. Yeah, he says “N”. Not “N-word”, just N. Or, if more than one, Ns. For some reason, I find that more offensive than the actual word.

(Just so there is no confusion, my wife is not fond of politics, but she does not share her dad’s views at all. My FIL is actually one of the most generous people I know. But, he consistently votes for people who would be just as happy letting him die. Makes me sick.)

Cohen had credit line of $774k before the election , must have been a lot of bimbos to pay

Michael Cohen gained access to $774G in credit during 2016 presidential campaign: report – New York Daily News

And IIRC, she gave him money that was specifically designated as a personal gift and not campaign funds. Because she explicitly wanted to give him money that was not bound by the rules regarding campaign donations.

Although I don’t know how much that matters legally.

And she may have regretted it once she found out what he used the money for.

Bimbos–and (or) hackers. There’s speculation that Cohen was tasked with paying the troll-factory workers, in various locales. Serbia, St. Petersburg (Russia, not Florida), etc.

Of course, what Fox News fails to tell him is that a president’s power to fire does not extend to firings done with “corrupt intent”–such as an attempt to save himself from facing the consequences of his own improper or unlawful actions. This is actually established law–not that Fox News would ever breath a word of it.

Il Douche was blessed by this scandal, its manna from Hell. Bill Cosby shocked America a lot more than Stormy Daniels, Mother I’d Love to Forget, ever will. Not even the pickle up the butt God-disturbers care! Its a distraction, a loud, neon mirage. If he doesn’t love it, he should.

JFK, for instance. Rumors swirled about his randy womanizing and I don’t think he worked that hard to dissuade anybody. It polished his image of youthful vigor. Marilyn Monroe singing sultry “Happy Birthday” to him was a stroke of pure political genius.

But “Blue Collar Billionaire”? That’s poetry. Dark, evil poetry. And this just feeds right into it. Gives him “guy cred”, like telling stories about working construction on his Daddy’s project. Just so long as we aren’t confronted with the details of their, ah, encounter…

she was on the opening skit last night about Trump

Here’s how the Facebook Reich Wing Gestapo is spinning this (actual post from a group I won’t name follows):

Okay, doing anything for any Democrat at any time in your life makes it impossible for you to take legal action without being paid for and directed by Obama. Got it.

Cohen may have paid off other women too, says the really bad new lawyer for Trump

https://www.cnn.com/2018/05/06/politics/giuliani-cohen-payment-trump-allegations/index.html

Would it count as campaign funding if they claimed that the hush payments were made to save Trump’s marriage?

Probably far too late for such a claim to be credible but it seems like the obvious excuse to me

Guiliani has already made that exact claim. See quote #26 in this Politico recap.

I mean, is there any chance Trump hired a man who can’t help but send his buddies at the SDNY tips about this criminal case he’s now in charge of? Could he just be freaking out “Holy Hell! I used to be AG at the SDNY and now I’m repping the biggest criminal organization in America!”? Or maybe his career instincts of exposing the bad guys makes him a singularly bad choice to head a criminal defense team?

Going from SDNYAG to leading the defense of Trump is a fair amount of distance from previously-espoused virtues and does seem an odd career turn to make (to me - it could be common practice for ex USAG’s to rep criminals, for all I know.) And such a career change is probably made best before your 70s, imho.
