Just collapse it down to Cheetolini, people will get the idea. Or Cheeto Benito.
Neither of these are mine, of course - too much good stuff already out there on the Internets to go to the trouble.
I generally like Josh Marshall at TPM, although I think his analysis recently is being driven more and more by his hopefulness that the Mueller investigation is this close to eviscerating Trump. Anyway, he speculates (Is The Stormy Story More Damaging Than We Thought? - TPM – Talking Points Memo) that the Daniels interview may be “more damaging” than many people think. He bases this partly on this:
I’m not convinced this would be that damaging to Trump. The evangelicals will continue not to care what he does as long as he appoints the right judges. I think most other people would view bondage/domination play as pretty normal and as disconnected from how they see him as a public figure. I would think the reaction among most of his non-Evangelical supporters would be along the lines of, “So he likes to take a break from being the World’s Greatest Alpha Male by pretending to be dominated by a hot chick. Meh. Do you see the women he’s banging?!”
Maybe if he’s into something that goes pretty far past cuffs and whips, it might make a difference. If he liked being shit on or something, maybe he’d start to lose some supporters. Otherwise, I’m not sure the Daniels story itself is what’s important. I’m just hoping the possible campaign finance violation bites someone.
A lot of the Trump fans think she’s just a hooker along with being a porn star so they can dismiss whatever she says based on that . They probably would not even believe a video of him with bondage .
they says she has more info that CBS in trying to verify before they run the interview on 60 minutes.
My stepfather, an old-school Korean-war-era vet, a conservative, evangelical man, kind and softspoken as the day is long, a proud Dutch Calvinist, said something I never thought I’d ever hear him say this weekend: “That Trump is a stupid idiot. Just when I think he couldn’t get any more stupid, I wake up and watch the news.”
This is from a man who, in my 20 years of knowing him, hasn’t said one single bad thing about another human being. Considers it “going casual” when he wears his suit without a tie at the evening church service. And has voted Republican every year since the day he could vote (although he was surprisingly cagey around the 2016 vote. Never actually came out and said who he was voting for, so…) We’re talking conservative evangelical of conservative evangelicals.
So don’t think the evangelical block is unbreakable with Trump. For what it’s worth, my mom also said that every Sunday during Obama’s term, the pastor of this right-wing evangelical church prayed for “President Barack Obama” by name. The pastor hasn’t used Trump’s name in prayer since at least summer, she said.
Fair enough. I should leave the broad brush with my painting supplies. I hope there are more people like your mom and stepdad out there.
That being said, I do understand an anecdote does not equal data. I don’t even know what the data is currently around Trump and evangelical support.
But this anecdote was just jaw-dropping for me.
Rolling Stone published their profile of Stormy a couple of days ago. She appears to lead an upper middle class lifestyle, so she can probably afford to give back the funds, though it would hurt.
I trust Stormy has a legal/financial/promotional plan. But I say she’s motivated by other concerns as well:

"I was fine with saying nothing,” Daniels tells me when we catch up over the phone a few days later. “But I am not fine with being bullied into lying, or being bullied at all.
“Standing up to bullies is kind of my thing,” she says, cheerfully. “They started it.”

They did start it. Stormy didn’t appear to leak the NDA; somebody else did. And once it was out in the open, Cohen twisted her arm into signing a false denial. Add more pressure, and smart people will understand the need to hire a good lawyer. Good lawyers counter-sue under such circumstances, so that bullying isn’t costless.
They also game things out. Looks like Trump’s fixer picked the wrong lady to mess with.

ETA: As for whether evangelicals will simply dismiss this story, recall that pr)n is more popular in red states than in blue states, if that’s possible.
Real traditionalists are appalled by Trump. Lots of fake traditionalists watch pr0n.
the religious folks who don’t get mad at Trump over this are probably jerking off to her videos on a nightly basis
But Alpha maile is his entire persona. He has the biggest hands, makes the biggest deals, hits back harder than anyone, and is always in charge. He’s the dominator not the dominatee. So when word comes out that he grabbed women by the pussy, the base says “You show her whose that man, Trump!”, but Trump crying while getting spanked and liking it may lead to “What kind of F%@&ing pansy did we elect?”
Maybe he calls his cock “the apprentice”.
Is there anyone on the face of the earth who doesn’t believe he shagged Stormy? His evangelical base gives him infinite mulligans, they won’t give two shits. Now if she’s got video of her spanking him or peeing on him or pictures of his willy looking like a small wrinkled cheeto, then he may have some problems.
His base will just claim that it’s evidence of his sensitive feminine side and proof that everyone is SO UNFAIR when they criticize his attitudes towards women.
When details if the NDA first surfaced I could have sworn I heard “issues of paternity” was mentioned along with images, texts etc.
Did that disappear, or did I mishear?

I heard Daniels’ lawyer give an interview on NPR yesterday afternoon. He said that the language about paternity was just boilerplate and that there are no paternity issues at stake in this suit. So the interviewer asked if the language about pictures and videos was also just boilerplate, and the attorney said that he wasn’t going to be either confirming or denying that those exist. So, no illegitimate Trumplings here, and also, ew.
That confirms they do, of course.
Well, yeah, hence the “ew”. Or it could mean that he just doesn’t want to outright deny that such things exist at the moment for strategy reasons.
All his base cares about is white nationalism. Even that wouldn’t bother them.
However speaking out in favor of BLM? That would cost him support from his base.
I have no reason to suspect this, but I wonder what the fallout would be if he’s had sexytimes with a non-white partner. It would be fun* to watch the reactions to that.
*For certain values of “fun”.
