Of the 26 million people that now have healthcare because of the ACA how many are republicans or at least how many of them voted for Trump? It seems like the conclusion around here that most of them voted Trump. I’m skeptical.
Cite that she was contemptuous of anyone, other than pussy-grabbing racists? If she needed that demographic, I’m glad she lost.
Given that most people who use ‘food stamps’ are White, and that poor people are more likely to take advantage of the ACA than middle-class people, and that most federal aid goes to ‘red states’, and that poor and working-class people tended to vote for Trump, I’d say a pretty fair number of ACA beneficiaries voted for Trump.
Plenty of them are stupid enough to not realize that Obamacare and the ACA are two names for the same thing. And are apparently shocked when they find out, when they don’t just refuse to believe it.
No doubt they’ll just blame the Democrats for it all anyway when they die.

Cite ?? She’s contemptuous of everyone. Just look of the smirk on her face when she debates. For goodness sake, she was contemptuous of Obama who behaved like Mother Theresa to her.
Just stop justifying her loss to pussy-grabbing racists. Hell, almost half of Trump voters were women. Trump had 63,000,000 votes - surely all of them racists, misogynists, homophobes, xenophobes and other scum. All of Hillary’s 66 million on the other hand, were real angels of course. She only needed 100K votes…in the right places. Not even in the South. States that she just ignored.
And I am really sad that she lost, we’ll all pay for that. But you’re glad. YAY

Well I’m part of that “everyone” and I never felt she was contemptuous of me. Maybe you just can’t handle that type of woman? That’s all I can figure. You know, you don’t have to date her to vote for her. It all comes down to “she’s kind of a bitch. How do I know she’s a bitch? Because the GOP told me she’s a bitch. Because Bill.” And for that, people voted for the man child who actively DOES hold everyone in contempt, except his boy friend Putin.
Yes, I’d rather she lost rather than somehow appeal to the scumbag racist and sexists among us. Democrats never win by out-appealing to the worst of us. Republicans have that demographic nailed down.
Oh, she’s all about equality and bringing people up! She must hate me, that bitch! I’ll vote for the cheeto!
Frankly, the SECOND that the Democratic Party starts trying to attract the haterading bigots that currently identify with the GOP, I’m out. I EXPECT the GOP to try to do that. I expect the Democrats to NOT do that and, in fact, try like hell to neutralize those kind of people’s influence on government action.
I don’t care if the Dems nominate someone who personally thinks every single American voter is an idiot, as long as they maintain, at the very least, MODERATE policies toward equality for everyone. If you’re voting based on personal butthurt, you’re doing it wrong.
So when do we erect the updatable electronic billboard in DC facing the whitehouse with ‘Number of people murdered by repealing the ACA: 00000123’ on it?

I never got a “contempt” vibe out of Clinton’s expression, except perhaps towards Trump. You got anything else in the way of a cite other than your personal gut reaction to a facial expression? :dubious:
Dang! The Republicans just can’t control what comes out of their boy’s mouth!
Trump vows ‘insurance for everybody’ in Obamacare replacement plan
President-elect Donald Trump said in a weekend interview that he is nearing completion of a plan to replace President Obama’s signature health-care law with the goal of “insurance for everybody,” while also vowing to force drug companies to negotiate directly with the government on prices in Medicare and Medicaid.Trump declined to reveal specifics in the telephone interview late Saturday with The Washington Post, but any proposals from the incoming president would almost certainly dominate the Republican effort to overhaul federal health policy as he prepares to work with his party’s congressional majorities.
Trump’s plan is likely to face questions from the right, following years of GOP opposition to further expansion of government involvement in the health-care system, and from those on the left, who see his ideas as disruptive to changes brought by the Affordable Care Act that have extended coverage to tens of millions of Americans.
…Trump warned Republicans that if the party splinters or slows his agenda, he is ready to use the power of the presidency — and Twitter — to usher his legislation to passage.
“The Congress can’t get cold feet because the people will not let that happen,” Trump said during the interview with The Post.
Trump said his plan for replacing most aspects of Obama’s health-care law is all but finished. Although he was coy about its details — “lower numbers, much lower deductibles” — he said he is ready to unveil it alongside Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.)…
This is going to be fun to watch.

Dang! The Republicans just can’t control what comes out of their boy’s mouth!
I’m pretty sure that Trump doesn’t, either. The man has no impulse control.
Of course, any “plan” he’ll come up with will be either garbage or doesn’t exist. And by tomorrow he may well be saying the opposite, about how he’ll destroy ADA with no replacement. He doesn’t do coherence.
The woman really can’t win, can she? If she smiles, she’s smirking and contemptuous. If she doesn’t, she’s a stone-faced bitch with no warmth or empathy.
People really make me tired.

Some people just can’t deal with smart women. I got the same kind of shit in junior high and high school just because I got better grades than the guys. I had to watch my vocabulary so people wouldn’t think I was using big words to make them feel stupid, which was never my intention. They thought I was smug when I was really shy and socially awkward.
Clinton’s not shy, but she’s not a charismatic extrovert either, and she’s been made to pay for that. Warren’s better at that, but she’d probably get a lot of the same reaction from insecure men.

Look at Michelle Obama. She’s smart and a charismatic extrovert, but she’s really a man and and an “ape in heels.” Not to mention-- oops!-- black. That makes her uppity times two.

For all the talk about policies and vision and connections and everything else, the race for President is really about a popularity contest (a contest the Donald technically lost, by the way). Had the Dems gone with Bernie, we’d be looking at a much different inauguration on Friday. One that artists and musicians and congressmen on all sides would be happy to show up for.

And this is why the Republicans can get people on the ACA to vote for them so they can repeal it.
Like I said, if this was a Democratic president-elect, how do you think the Republicans would have handled it?
Paraphrasing from my grandmother, “the most polite thing he called the other guy was ‘traitor’”.

Maybe, but what are you going to think if you, me and Drunky are all on the list?
That the end times are upon us.

Yeah, I’ve unfriended a couple people on FB over the Michelle memes. They’ll say something like, “it’s not because she’s black!”
Unfriend.

And you see this as different from Trump, how?
That sounds like an empty* tu quoque.* I am sick enough of it from Republicans, now Democrats want to do it? (OK, I’ve asked such questions before, on this board, I am sure.)
But actually, it is different. Trump sold himself as a powerful man who could take on the powerful and win. This was kind of a trick, but he did. Hillary ran as the heir of Obama, and didn’t spend any capital challenging the upper echelons of power.

Yes, but Hillary actually won the popular vote, by an even greater amount than Gore did. That’s got to be picking the Donald’s arse in the same way Macbeth has Banquo dispatched but Fleance escapes.
