Anyone ever play this? It came out in the late 80’s I think. I remember my friends and I found it at a Big Lots or some such in like '91 for $5 marked down from like $50. We bought it on a larf because hey, it’s $5. But you know what? It was (or could be) pretty fun times to play. I’d say it was more fun than monopoly. A good simple change of pace from D&D or GURPS or Battletech or whatever it was we were usually playing that required a ton of setup.
The first phase of the game was similar to monopoly. Rolling dice, going around the board to the various properties and such. But the real fun was the second phase. After all the properties were sold off, you would just go around the table and try and make deals with the other players. And essentially you could make up any deal you could think of, the only rule being that once your deal was rejected, play moved on tho the next player.
It was also good fun to make fun of that fucking egomaniacal clown. His picture was all over everything. The pieces, the board, the properties, and of course the money. Tho I’m pretty sure he had no hand in the making of the game. I kinda wish I still had it, but I gave away all my gaming stuff when I moved out here to CA.
I went to a boardgame cafe with a friend a few weeks back, and we tried to play this one on a lark. But we couldn’t even make it through the rules, to be honest (it didn’t help that the copy of the rules included in the game appeared to be printed out of order). I did like that the highest number on the dice wasn’t a 6, but instead was the letter “T”.
The boardgame cafe is here in California, if you are really wanting to play it again.
We used to play it a lot in the 80s when it came out. I don’t remember much except that the winner was pretty much pre-determined in the early-ish parts of the game, so it made it rather boring once it was obvious who was going to win.
Hehe, I forgot about the T on the die. And I don’t think td wanna actually go out in puli looking for the game. But I’d play it again if my friends showed up with it.
