“And I that I think that we should, Trump’s team should not underestimate Joe Biden and his team’s ability to, you know, whether they’re going to, jack him up on Mountain Dew or whatever it is that it took, the state of the Union this year, he had a lot of energy for about an hour – an hour or an hour and a half,” concluded the Republican congressman.
I was just thinking that if Biden looks vigorous and performs well during the debate, the typical MAGA response will be either that he was hopped up on stimulants, “aggressive” (as was the complaint about the State of the Union speech), or both.
Complaints about the format and moderator “bias” are inevitable.
The shark’s in the water and Trump better hold onto that battery tightly.
Is that really true? 24 hour news stations report on breaking news all the time, they don’t need days or even hours of time to set things up. And in this case, it would only take a moment’s reflection to think, “Hey, there’s a lot of noise from both sides that Trump might bail on the debate. Maybe I’ll have a studio and some talking heads on stand by, just in case.”
Hell, they’d have some talking heads already booked for the after-debate spin session, so how hard would it be to tell them to be ready a couple of hours early?
I’m not sure. Is it possible that he’s saying it not because he believes it, but because he thinks it’ll sell? If so, is it possible that it will, in fact, sell? And, regardless of whether it does click with his intended audience, is it reasonable of him to figure that it could?
(It’s something I’ve always kind of wondered about, say, the tan suit: is it that the people making a fuss about it actually cared — or that they of course didn’t care, but just figured it was a possibility they could roll the dice on, and maybe it’d click but maybe it wouldn’t?)
The Venn diagram of “networks that would give Trump all of that on short notice” and “networks Trump will agree to go on” are two separate circles. NBC/ABC/CBS are the “lamestream media” and would be “unfair” to him. Fox doesn’t give him live interviews anymore because he can’t stay on topic and they don’t want him pushing election conspiracies while they’re still getting sued over it. Newsmax, OANN, and RSBN don’t have enough reach to deliver the kind of ratings he demands, and don’t really have the facilities to accomodate him either.
Quick point, ‘drug screen’ is not a precise term. There are forensic screens, employment screens and ER screens, probably others. They don’t always test for the same things. People come into the ER and are surprised that we can’t test for date rape drugs, for example. Also, IIRC, the White House pharmacy thing talked about dispensing a lot of modafinil, which won’t be on at least some of those screens.
I took the liberty (i.e., I stole) this to make a meme that I shared on Facebook. One of my Trump Cultist friends replied: ‘Biden is no longer with us ! ’
So Biden will lose the debate because he has dementia or because he’s on drugs; but it doesn’t matter because he’s dead!
Biden is simultaneously dead, on drugs, has dementia, and is an evil mastermind running a multi-billion-dollar international grift while engineering the destruction of Donald Trump, America, and the white race.
The funny thing is, Trump actually does do all of that and claims to only get a few hours of sleep a night. Maybe the drugs keep him too wired to sleep.
Not sure if this has been addressd in another thread, but I thought there’s no live audience for this debate, right? So how will this VP unveiling happen? Will there be a green room for each candidate’s entourage, with cameras showing their reactions throughout? And Trump’ll pull an envelope out of his pocket at some point and say “The winner is…(you know, I liked the Oscars better when they said ‘and the winner is’ instead they changed it to ‘the Oscar goes to’, this is why nobody watches them any more, Jimmy Kimmel SAD!)” and one person in the other room stands up and runs up the aisle…oh wait. But seriously, will something like this play out?
