Our tv remote has been dead for 2 years now, so no tv. Neither of us miss the television enough to expend the tiny effort to fix the issue.

Heh. Nice. I think me and The Lady of Wisdom are going with grilled salmon and chard. Something light, in case The Traitor does his thing and comes up with something particularly bilesome.
My hope is that his dementia is so apparent that the MSM will feel obligated to report on it now and keep reporting on it. I think that’s the best possible result, other than perhaps Trump passing out on stage.
I have never thought Trump was stupid. He’s never been an intellectual giant, he’s not curious, is incapable of listening to actual experts who don’t say what he wants to hear, and of course there are more problems but I don’t want to be here all day. But I don’t think he’s actually a stupid man.
He’s always said outrageous stuff that would have sank the careers of most other politicians, but for the most part those outrageous statements made some sense. “Grab 'em by the pussy.” Makes sense. “I like people who weren’t shot down.” Makes sense. But now he’s talking about scenarios with electric boats and having to choose being electrocuted or eaten by sharks. Doens’t make sense. Something is wrong with the guy that wasn’t apparent in 2016.
That’s my hope as well but I think that having questions to answer rather than 90 minutes to fill with whatever random thoughts pop into his head will focus him to the point he doesn’t do anything outrageous. But we can hope.
Apparently just the filter. Those aren’t new things. He’s apparently had some weird deep seated fears and fetishes for years. Just better at keeping them from public view. Not being President helps with the scrutiny, of course. Most of us have probably seen that in other older folks - their filters tend to malfunction.
While I won’t say he’s a drooling idiot, if you have to choose, he’s probably always been on the dim side rather than the bright, but not by all that much. You can’t be very smart while drinking your own Kool-Aid.
Either way, he’s probably going to say some inane stuff tonight but it also likely won’t matter.
But now that he’s almost certain to show up, I’m thinking ahead to the “thereafter” in the thread title. I imagine if he does very poorly, he still shows up to the next one. If nothing else, he does like being aggressive, even it means setting himself up to walk into situations he’s not well suited for.

If it’s closed-caption, I might tune in and just mute for Trump, although even the sight of him turns my stomach, so probably not.
Well, here we are just hours before the debate, and it looks like Trump has not yet weaseled out of it. Damn. I told some friends of mine he’d be backing out, because of this thread, but here we are. Damn.
Maybe his motorcade will get stuck in traffic.
