Well, here we are, prediction falsified. I take no pleasure in noting it. Biden’s doing much worse than I hoped, while Trump is doing much better.
I’d guess that after this debate, there’ll be a lot of folks flipping their opinions about whether debates matter anymore.
I’d like to take a victory lap at this time on the claims that Trump was gonna barge across the stage and steal Biden’s mic.

Actually, this thread OP isn’t all that wrong. It would be in Trump’s best interests to refuse to debate Biden again after this one. He already won Round One and the subsequent Rounds 2-4 could only represent a chance for Biden to claw back lost ground.
Once Trump’s people found out that there would be no real time fact checking, his strategy became clear-lie fast, lie often, and Gish-gallop to victory while Biden tries to actually debate.

Not to interrupt Smapti’s victory lap, but: we really don’t know what Trump would have done if Biden had been, you know, remotely effective. Or even just awake.
Trump likes to ‘change the narrative’ as the saying goes. He wouldn’t have passively stood there if Biden was cleaning his clock–he would have done something.
What, we don’t know. But nothing can be ruled out.
