Trump would like us all to stop talking so much about the pandemic

Can someone tell my brother that?

He thinks we worry too much about COVID, hates wearing a mask, and talks about it all the time. (He keeps trying to highlight mask hypocrisy.)

Covid, Covid, Covid
Covid, Covid, Covid
Covid, Covid, Covid
Covid, Covid, Covid
Newsroom! Newsroom!

An outbreak, an outbreak, outbreak!
An outbreeeeak! Oooh an Outbreak!

Ah, damn, @Broomstick, I’m sorry to hear it finally got you. I hope your case is mild and that you recover without being a #longhauler.

How many plane models are actually capable of carrying 500 passengers? I thought even the big ones doing intercontinental or transcontinental flights were in the 300-350 range.

Capacity is around 400 all the way to 850.

Covid.
Nothing more than Covid.
Trying to forget my feelings of dread.
COOOOVID… Woah, Woah, Woah, COOOVID…

Oh, just to clarify, that early reply was directed to Trump, not you; I hope you get better.

They’ve hidden the news about that even better than they did the Bowling Green Massacre.

He knows to whom he speaks. Trumpists are morons of staggering measure. Look at it like this, he’s got those idiots PROUD to stand maskless in crowds during a devastating pandemic none of has ever seen before.

Here you go:

Or you can tweet it.

Hee. Thanks.

I would like to amend the opening line of the OP to

“Donald Trump’s strained relationship with the reality of the coronavirus pandemic…”

In their latest podcast, 538’s Nate Silver vociferously wondered aloud why Trump is FEEDING the media focus on COVID by complaining about it. Nate: “It would be like if, exactly four years ago, Hillary kept shouting “EMAILS! EMAILS! EMAILS! Not fair. EMAILS!”

Obviously we should be talking about the pandemic. But to be fair, I kind of agree with Trump: It sometimes feels like that’s all anyone is talking about. Not just in the news, but everywhere. It’d be nice to be able to take a break and think about something else for at least a little while.

Chronos, I agree with you on that. Each of us has some control over how we let it dominate our thoughts and days, and that might mean taking a break from all media from time to time.

It is pretty big news that affects us all.

It would be like if two airliners crashed each and every day (just in the US, with a few more crashing around the globe as well). Of course it’s going to permeate the news.

OTOH, there are plenty of other stories out there that do attract my attention, at least. We are bringing back a sample from an asteroid, that’s cool; Space X is still doing interesting things; Critical Role is making new episodes; and of course, for the next week or more, the election will also be in everyone’s minds.

That said, I’m wearing a mask right now as I type this, and everyone I see around me is as well. It’s pretty hard to ignore, this relatively minor, yet very visual and pervasive, reminder of the epidemiological threat that we are all under.

Apparently, there’s every reason to stop talking about it:

Yeah. It’s over. It’s over and we won. See “MISSION ACCOMPLISHED” banner, and that oh-so-hot Commander In Chief in a bomber jacket tout suite.

I dunno’ about the rest of you but I view this as amazing news. That pandemic really sucked !

:barf:

We’re entering the worst outbreak yet for COIVD in our country. I’m not tired of hearing about it. I’d like it to be a drumbeat a) until the election is over and b) until the dumbasses who are STILL arguing that it’s not worse than the flu or MAH FREEDOM get a clue and stop trying to kill the rest of us. It’s infuriating that this could have been done months ago and that hundreds of thousands of people have died because absolutely selfish idiots couldn’t wait a few more weeks to get back to “normal”.

Remember back when he took office and Trump took credit for the fact that there had not been a fatal plane crash in the US in years?
