And if the honest answer is that they got the info off his driver’s license, then that is an official government form he falsified information on. BTW, someone should check to see what address is listed on his license.
Yeah, fine. But ticking the wrong box is a simple mistake but filling out a full registration form is not.
I don’t know if it’s possible, but someone should check to see if he voted in California AND Florida in the last election.
It would be ticking the wrong box on a form he illegally falsified information on to get a drivers license.
High-powered boss to subordinate:
“I want to save my marriage and move to FL. Get me ready to do so.”
One week later: “Sign these”. Signatures ensue while yapping at Alex Jones over cell phone.
Two weeks later: “Fuck her and her shit: I’m cancelling my subscription because I’m tired of her issues. I ain’t going anywhere. Undo what you did.”
Can you imagine anyone who would take on Trump’s campaign without a warehouse of their own baggage?
I have no doubt that a long list of Republican stalwarts in the campaign game have carefully avoided answering their phones in the past several weeks.
Seven. Years. Ago.
So he just has had no idea where he has been living for seven years? Or he’s just had the wrong address for seven years due to a simple mistake? This stretches credulity.
I am curious, are you replying to me without answering my question because you don’t have a driver’s license?
You’re “honest question” is really just a bunch of bullshit.
So he knowingly and purposefully changed his voter registration when he began renting the house in question. The information was right there in the linked article.
No, it isn’t. Why are you guys so evasive? It’s a simple goddamn question even if it differs between States.
Maybe this is just an attempt to build up support for voter ID laws. Republicans haven’t been able to find enough existing evidence of voter fraud so now they’re out there creating it.
My bad. I thought he had the voters registration for the past 7 years, but upon re-reading I missed the line in the article that stated “Records from the Orange County registrar of voters state that Bannon was registered to vote there from the 1980s until 2014, when he cancelled his registration and began registering in Miami.”
It even lead a paragraph, too.
OK, so he didn’t live there and this wasn’t a 7 year mistake that never got corrected. Point taken - I can no longer read for shit. ![]()
But this isn’t going to matter, not unless he actually voted or took tax breaks he wasn’t allowed to. And even if it’s the 2nd, he’ll get a fine and that’ll be that.
Maybe acting like his official residence is in Florida had something to do with his child support or other divorce settlement issue. Don’t jump down my throat, not defending him, just trying to come up with a motive less stupid than “he wanted to vote in Florida”.
If that’s the case he’d better make that clear in a hurry. Stonewalling just guarantees the story lasts for several more news cycles. And Trump is running out of those if he wants to actually win this thing.
I’m guessing that they will fix this mess by calling Clinton a “bigot”.
Naw, he should let it sit for the weekend, crafting the perfect tweet that Trump can put out @ 6:14am, Monday, right before he calls into his favorite news shows.
It may well vary among the states. I think the last time I renewed in Kansas, it was a separate form.
However, I think you’re missing the point. If he filled out a driver’s license application and listed as his legal residence an address at which he did not reside, had never resided, and had no intention of residing, whether or not he accidentally checked an extra box doesn’t change the fact that the entire form is a lie, and probably constitutes perjury.
Florida Statute 322.08 Application for license; requirements for license and identification card forms.—
(1) Each application for a driver license shall be made in a format designated by the department and sworn to or affirmed by the applicant as to the truth of the statements made in the application. …
322.33 Making false affidavit perjury.—Any person who makes any false affidavit, or knowingly swears or affirms falsely to any matter or thing required by the terms of this chapter, shall be guilty of perjury and upon conviction shall be punished accordingly.
Obenshain, a Virginia senator, defended the infamous restrictive voter laws by claiming that “There’s only one class of people who are going to be discouraged from voting, and that’s fraudulent voters.”
If the Republicans do not demand answers in this case it only follows that It’s OK to get around the law If You’re A Republican.
IOKIAR
slash2k, I am not missing that point at all. I haven’t remotely defended falsely claiming residence somewhere as kosher. I was asking a simple question as to whether it could be a simple mistake wrt voter registration.
“Look, I don’t know anything about Steve Bannon. OK? I don’t - nobody even knows who this guy is.”
