Trump's new cabinet

Thune won the election for Majority Leader. He’s McConnell’s protege and I don’t see him yielding that much institutional power.

I think it’s Matt Gaetz for Attorney General which has broken me.

Wonder where Joe Rogan will fit in.

The upside is Trump is choosing grandstanding clown villains instead of competent villains. The grandstanders are much likelier to twirl their mustaches, and much less likely to get the concentration camps actually up and running.

I would have guessed Solicitor General :stuck_out_tongue:

I can’t help but wonder if Mark Burnett has a hand in casting this Worst Reality TV Series Ever.

So they are more like “Hogan’s Heroes” Nazis?

Moderating:

As there is already a P&E thread discussing cabinet appointments, let’s merge this one into it.

It’s Russian asset Tulsi Gabbard for National Intelligence Director that made me literally a little sick.

It could have been Ken Paxton for Attorney General, which arguably would have been worse.

I just can’t anymore. Good luck, everybody.

Tulsi Gabbard, Matt Gaetz…

I wonder if the main qualification to be appointed to Trump’s cabinet is for him to have kompromat on you?

If you want out, I heard today that a cruise ship company is planning a four-year voyage. Possibly long enough to avoid much of the insanity?

seen elsewhere : “He’s treating his cabinet appointments like it’s his Myspace ‘Top 8’”.

This is like a parody cabinet, something the Onion would put together as a joke. Child rapist and trafficker? Make him attorney general. Russian asset? Director of national intelligence.

It’s almost unbelievable. If it were fiction, I would lose my willful suspension of disbelief.

Is there any way that getting all these buffoonish Keystone Kops together could ever possibly be a good thing, in that maybe they won’t destroy the country as badly as a band of devious criminal masterminds could?

The Fear Factor guy?
You’ll find out when you get to the camp!
Ever play a real life version of “Would you Rather”?

Now Trump is just fucking with you. Gaetz is an unbelievable scumbag. I like how his DUI got glossed over. That shit doesn’t even happen here in Wisconsin, the Drunkest Place on Earth ™.

From the New York Times

Representative Max Miller, Republican of Ohio, told reporters that many members of the G.O.P. conference were shocked at the choice of Matt Gaetz for attorney general, but mostly out of happiness that the Florida Republican might no longer be a member of the chamber. For years, Gaetz has instigated battles within the party that culminated in his successful effort to oust Kevin McCarthy from the speaker’s post last year.

And Lisa Murkowski, a Republican senator from Alaska, seems to be pushing back, “If I wanted to make a joke, maybe I would say now I’m waiting for George Santos to be named.” But will Republican senators actually not confirm? I doubt it. They’ll just roll over and accept him.

Every low-info Trump voter: “Who’s Matt Gaetz?”. Followed immediately by “what is the attorney general” and “what is the department of justice”, “what is the judicial branch”, and finally “are eggs cheaper today?”.

Rubio seems like a strange pick among the rest. I can only imagine that he was thinking he might use his inclusion to help sell the idea of skipping the Constitutionally obligated Senate approval step.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Rubio gets dropped.
