Trump's one-month approval ratings are lowest ever

President Donald Trump’s 40% job approval ratingabout one month into his presidency is 21 percentage points below the historical average rating for elected presidents in mid-February (61%). It is also 11 points below the lowest mid-February reading for any other president.

Trump seems to be setting new records. He had the lowest new-president approval rating on taking office, and he’s kept the trend going bigly at the one-month mark, with an approval rating 11 points below any other president at this point in their administration.

He’s managed to keep his approval rating hovering around 40% for the last week, but none of those polls would include the impact of his bizarre drug-fueled press conference yesterday. And the Flynn resignation might drive the polls lower as well.

To properly state that Trump style, I believe it would be: #1, the best in history at low approval ratings.

The man is a record breaker. My respects. /s

And look how much we’re talking about him. Ratings don’t lie.

Yes, if we’d ignored him from the start, none of this would have happened, but now he’s president, so we don’t have much choice.

Trump’s actions now–as they were before–are mostly just an attempt to get attention and approval from his base. He’s not really trying to accomplish anything or deliver good governance–he’s just trying to raise his ratings. All those executive orders are just for that.

Depends on who you adk…

Depends on who you ask…

It’s amazing what you find when you read a link.

And this poll is more negative, it doesn’t make it any more reliable. People are going to tend to lie about their feelings for Trump if they approve of him. The only accurate poll will be a secret anonymous one.

And more negative for Democrats.

Like how Clinton got 3 million more votes that Trump? Unlike the Electoral College, that’s a direct secret anonymous poll of individual voters.

Eliminate California and Trumpie got 1.2 more vote than Hitlery. Eliminate the few big cities here and its worse. Trumpty Dumpty didn’t come out of nowhere. Obama made this insanity possible. Then the Dems nominated an unlikeable candidate.

If you are American and an adult, you will want him to do well because its in all our interest.

1.2 million.

And if I eliminate 50,000 runners, I could win the Boston Marathon.

I hope he does badly enough that even chickenshits like McConnell and Ryan are forced to put Country before Party.

I don’t believe Trump can be any better than he’s shown.

You must not have a 401k or a pension plan because the stock market is at an all time high.

But he did start horribly. We shall see if his handlers can shape him up. If his performance improves then there is some hope.

And you’re not even counting the people who voted for other candidates, plus all the millions who didn’t vote at all. Those who actually voted for Trump were very much of a minority. And those who still support him are an even smaller minority.

Do I want him to “do well”? Do I want him to succeed at banning Muslims from the country? Do I want him to succeed at screwing up the environment? Do I want him to succeed at making the rich richer at the expense of everyone else? Do I want him to succeed at giving Russia the upper hand, while screwing over our generations-long allies? Do I want him to succeed in denying the rights of women and minorities?

I want him to FAIL MISERABLY… specifically because it’s in all our interest.

Why are you counting any Hillary votes? Eliminate them all and Trump won by ~60 million.

Sounds about as reasonable as pretending California, or big cities (hint: tens of millions of Americans live in California and big cities!) don’t count.

And it can’t possibly crash and burn. Just up-up-up forever!

I didn’t pretend Cali doesn’t exist. The hysterical here forget how our system works. And the popular vote argument has to be noted with an asterisk because its concentrated in California.

Future sociologists will be able to study this boards reaction to Trump and gain understanding of how the lynch mob mentality works. Hysteria. Demonization. The spread of distortion and lies.

Do I think he is clownish and unsuited for the job by temperament? Yes. But he is what we have and I’d rather not cut off my nose to spite my face.

I think he has a bit more room to fall. I’m not sure what his floor is - perhaps about 35%. The only way he goes lower than this is if he introduces an EO to confiscate all guns in the country.
