It was a chatbot, like that Microsoft one they had to shut down when it went crazy!
Trump continues to raise the bar on his newfound pro-life views. In an interviewwith Chris Matthews to be aired later today, Trump advocated for punishing women who have abortions.
He seems to have made that position up on the fly in the interview. Or maybe he didn’t understand the question because of a bad earpiece.
Honest to god, I read that as “a bad hairpiece.”
Me too.
Every time I see him interviewed, I’m distracted by the expectation that that thing will leap off his head and latch onto someone’s face.
I’d say The Donald has finally found his way out of getting elected: Just keep insulting women.
I’m so glad he didn’t run as a Democrat.
Apologies if this observation has already been made, as I’m sure it has been. I didn’t trawl through all 60 pages to see.
I don’t think Donald has to worry at all about what happens if he gets elected…I foresee a November ass-kicking of biblical proportions.
What’s astounding, though, is that absolutely nothing he says or does keeps him from winning primaries.
Why should it? It’s sitting pretty. It’s already found a host who will do and say everything it says no matter how odious or stupid or ridiculous.
A lot of us foresaw that in the primaries, though.
Republican primaries too. Last night he said the most important functions of the federal government were security (sure) and health care (!) education (!) and housing (!).
hardly Republican ideals, no wonder the “true conservatives” are going nuts. Their base simply does not care about ideology or political philosophy.
I sometimes wonder if Trump can even remember what he said yesterday – or understand why remembering it matters.
I actually completely believe that it is his own hair. Which actually makes it even weirder and more comical. After all, you never saw David Letterman or William Shatner photographed with several feet of hair swirling around in the wind.
A lot of my friends are being nervous Nellies about this. To me, anyone who thinks that someone getting less than half of the votes in Republican primaries and caucuses (while being vehemently opposed by nearly half the party, all while massively alienating women and minorities) would be a fearsome opponent in the general election? Well, they either started out too optimistic about Republicans, or are now way too pessimistic about people who are not Republicans.
Sadly, we will probably never get to see how badly he would be curb-stomped in a one-on-one race, because there will almost certainly be another major GOP candidate on the general election ballot. But Drumpf might end up with less than 20% of the vote in November, and that would be fun to see.
Huh, that story doesn’t seem to back up the description of it you made in your link. He said there should be punishment, but did not say specifically that it should be the woman who gets punished.
Personally, I believe abortion should be safe, legal, and rare (but not for lack of availability of clinics near people) in the first trimester; but I don’t understand why anyone who believes it is murder would not want to punish both the woman and the doctor, except for baldly political reasons which don’t seem remotely logical.
They just showed the interview on the CBS news, and he did say so, specifically. However, he has already done a 180 on it, and now says only the provider should be punished.
It most certainly does. First paragraph: “Donald Trump scrambled to clarify his position on abortion and put out a firestorm of criticism Wednesday after he initially said women who obtain abortions should be punished.”
Then he backpedaled to say no, this is what I meant, blah, blah, blah. But he obviously let his true feelings show in his initial knee-jerk comment.
He’s just trying to figure out what his base wants to hear, and he’s not very good at that without some thought. His “true feelings” are still probably 100% pro choice, so it takes him awhile to get his arms around what a pro-life position would look like.
I recall an episode of Ally McBeal where a guy’s company orders him to trim his ridiculous fools-nobody combover if he wants to keep his job, as it makes him look dishonest to the clients. He keeps protesting, “But it’s all my own hair!” And so it is – but when he loses the case and has to trim it, we see it’s a couple of feet of hair growing out of one little patch on his scalp and wound round and round.
Some questions, thoughts:
- Is this the first time the Trump campaign “clarified” one of his statements? It’s been my view that he is his campaign and his top people just react to what Donald wants *now * and don’t provide any real, meaningful advice.
- If so, then this step-back has to have been ordered by The Donald. But why?
- I would venture a guess that pressure from Mrs. Trump would explain this relatively quick collapse to public opinion…
“Honey, you said *what *?!? No, no, no, no, no, let me explain it to you, Mister Man…” 10 minutes later, the Donald, shell-shocked, goes to his staff and says “Hey, guys, you allowed me to fuck up! You’re fired!”
I can’t wait for the books to be written about this campaign.
I can’t wait for the miniseries of the books.
Who will they get for Trump? Travolta has already done Bill Clinton …
