Ah now we are talking Rugby aren’t we Dr Drake, yes I admit we do send missionaries to Wales to teach them how to play the game and Cornwall are coming on strong with their game
For those who do not know the United Kingdom is four proud nations + Cornwall each with their own history and culture, between us there is a great deal of banter But we stand as one against any who attack just one of us
Islam is not a race or colour it is a global religion who’s religious book the Quran encourages them Not to tolerate any other religion but Islam. May I suggest that those who have not read the Quran do so and also study Sharia Law
I picture Trump continuing to bring up more crazy/insane ideas as time goes by to see who continues to support him. Then when the GOP dumps him and he goes back on his word to run as a 3rd party candidate he’ll have all his supporters register as loyal Trumpsters.
Then he’ll go the the FBI/CIA/NSA and tell them “You know there are a lot of radical crazy people in this country who are very dangerous and need to be watched. Here’s a list of all of them. You’re welcome.”
Is there a possibility a sizeable proportion of Americans will be thinking that “Obama wants to ban guns and Trump wants to ban Muslims. My vote goes to…”?
Another vote for this being his exit strategy. I sincerely doubt he’ll run as independent. Independent book tour, sure…
Picturing the 3-party debate with Clinton, Cruz & Trump is hilarious. “IT’S GOD!” “NO! IT’S THE NRA!” And Hillary won’t have to say a thing, just shake her head in rhythm and disbelief.
I don’t think it will work, but he does. More accurately I think the reality is this is just who he is. It’s not a “strategy”, he’s just acting the way he always has, and that has made him rich and famous. I suspect it’s inherently limiting … but I also think he has a visceral understanding of persuasion, media, and human psychology that’s much better than mine.
This seems to be the final nail in the coffin for Trump. I can’t see his candidacy surviving his call to ban Muslims. I haven’t seen anyone from the GOP support him on this. Losing the GOP’s support wipes out his political base.
The GOP establishment, sure, but they all hate Trump already. There’s some indication that GOP base voters might actually approve of this position.
And really, it’s only different in degree from Carson’s statement that Muslims shouldn’t hold public office, or various candidates’ statements that only Christian refugees from Syria should be allowed to enter the US. Trump is just distilling that stuff down into crack form.
Seems unlikely Trump will win many primaries. But, I envision a revolt at the convention if Trump were to somehow win enough primaries for the nomination.
The GOP has to consider the rest of the ticket. The House and Senate candidates, and the state candidates. Trump as the nominee would severely hurt the GOP’s chances.
Trump is gathering all of the absolute worst people in the nation that we should not want to be part of the political process because of their radical and hate-filled views, and making sure that they have no actual power by getting them rallied behind a candidate that has absolutely no chance of winning. He continues to raise the temperature of the rhetoric just to make sure that it’s only those truly awful people who will follow him. Anyone with a lick of sense will be thrown from the bandwagon back into the political environment where they can actually make a difference.
Trump’s supporters eat this stuff up, and he’s already proven he doesn’t need the GOP establishment. I fully expect his poll numbers to remain the same or even go up.
The few Trump supporters I’ve come across really do live in a bubble, and believe that Trump can easily beat Clinton in a general election. If they have any clue that Trump can’t win a general election without some minority support, they don’t care. It’s baffling.
