Trump's Republican primary campaign

Not my English Defence League they are not a club that you join. I am known for placing comments on their sight where I disagree with them as much as agree, they have the good grace to allow criticism. I recommend you read their mission statement, they are not a hate group, Their support is multi faith and multicultural. You must not confuse them with racist hate groups such as British Nationalist Party, National Front and Combat 18, Three groups I hate with a vengence

Know your enemy

I’d like to believe this and hope you’re right. But the Mexican rapist comment was supposed to do him in, as was his comments about McCain and later about Megyn Kelly. He is appealing to the darker side of human nature that others can appeal to only indirectly. His supporters don’t care about facts, they don’t care about logic, they’re just looking to him as the strong man who can save them from the “other”, be they Mexicans or Muslims. He may not have a majority supporting him, but if 100% of those that do support him come out, that may be enough to win the nomination.

This is merely a matter of style, and it’s slightly obnoxious to insist on your preference. I prefer to use periods with all abbreviations, myself.

Interesting. No less than Trump’s erstwhile opponent Rupert Murdoch has come on board to say Trump’s making sense with regard to a moratorium on Muslim immigration.

The only thing worse that Cheney telling you you’ve gone too far is Murdoch telling you you’re right.

In Australia a political party could kick you out of their party if you espouse views that are fundamentally against their policies. Does the US system have any mechanism where the republicans could do that? I know delegates can refuse to vote for him even if he wins the primary but isn’t there some other way of doing that earlier?

In a further boost to the paradigm shift that Mr. Trump seems to be working the White House have added to his publicity campaign. So Mr.Trump stands condemned by both the political establishment and the media. Approval ratings for either of those “estates” are apparently at close to all time lows.

The time for laughing at Mr.Trump is over. Underestimating your enemy is not a good idea.

From a dystopian perspective it looks easier to have Islam exempted from the First Amendment than to repeal the Second. The Trump approach has seriously changed the terms of the debate and sticking your fingers in your ears and hoping the noise goes away might not work that well this time.

I’m much more inclined to gather and luck up Trump supporters. They’re the mind of psychopaths that commit far more crimes than Muslims

There are very few party memberships in US parties. Bernie Sanders is running as a Democrat although he’s never been a registered Democrat. There have been cases (such as when KKK leader David Duke was the Republican gubernatorial candidate in Louisiana) where the official party has repudiated their candidate, but there isn’t much they can do if the candidate makes it through the primaries.

Seems like a bizarre system to me, so any candidate can yank a party in any direction they want if they’re popular enough? I thought a political party was supposed to have ideals it was founded on.

They did, and then they got elected.

I don’t have to read the Quran. I’ve worked alongside muslims for decades. Not a single one has shown any signs of wanting to kill me, or even trying to convert me.

A couple have gotten mad at me a few times over one thing or another, but even then they seem to have somehow been able to restrain their no doubt overwhelming urge to kill the infidel.

American political parties aren’t membership organizations. If you can persuade the people who choose to vote in your party’s primary to vote for you, then you are that party’s candidate.

And most states have some type of open primary system, so the party has no control over who chooses to vote in the nomination process.

So, yes, a single person can pull a party in any direction through the strength of his or her popularity. Notably, the Democratic and Republican parties don’t really have any underlying philosophical basis or foundational values and they have each changed in character completely several times since each was founded.

He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the LORD only, he shall be utterly destroyed. - Exodus 22:20

If thou shalt hear say in one of thy cities, which the Lord thy God hath given thee to dwell there, saying, certain men, the children of Belial, are gone out from among you, and have withdrawn the inhabitants of their city, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which ye have not known; Then shalt thou enquire, and make search, and ask diligently; and, behold, if it be truth, and the thing certain, that such abomination is wrought among you; Thou shalt surely smite the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly, and all that is therein, and the cattle thereof, with the edge of the sword. And thou shalt gather all the spoil of it into the midst of the street thereof, and shalt burn with fire the city, and all the spoil thereof every whit, for the Lord thy God: and it shall be an heap for ever; it shall not be built again. - Deuteronomy 13:12-16

For fuck’s sake, even their cows are not safe.

Needless to say, I could go on and on and on with similar verses.

They wouldn’t dare, at this point. If Trump believes the GOP isn’t treating him fairly, he will run as a third party candidate and take his lunatic constituency with him, guaranteeing a Clinton win. I think this may happen anyway

Good idea.

So, tell us about yourself…

Trump is a businessman. Just how much of his own money is he willing to dump into a failing business?

So now you want to lock people up for their beliefs? At least Trump only wants to lock 'em out.
