Not only is it un-American, not only is it morally wrong, it also makes the US LESS safe than before. If this came to be, our relations with Muslim nations would go in the toilet. ISIS recruiting would skyrocket. Muslims around the world would be far less inclined to report suspicious activity among their number.
What the fuck is wrong with Republicans? A couple dozen schoolkids get slaughtered in class and you do absolutely nothing. Now if a Muslim does something you go fucking apeshit.
Might lessen it? I’d say it would eliminate something like 99.9% of the world’s terror attacks.
But I don’t support it because I’m guided by common sense and discernment. I can recognize that it’s far better to simply let people who almost certainly have anti-American terrorists in their midst temporarily stay where they are, as opposed to killing million upon millions of innocent men, women and children only to find that they both produce essentially the same result - keeping terrorists from immigrating in groups of asylum seekers.
I’m also guided by common sense and discernment, and this common sense and discernment drives my opposition to banning Muslims from entering the country. First, because it’s monstrous and would overwhelmingly harm decent people, and second, because we need the cooperation of peaceful Muslims (i.e. most Muslims) to fight terrorism, and such action would make many of them less likely to be favorably inclined to cooperate with us.
Right - because the terrorists can’t afford an airline ticket, and because the terrorists are too stupid to say they are Christian. Or Jewish. Not only is Trump’s idea immoral, it doesn’t even work.
So, after considering an alternative that all but an inhuman monster would reject anyway, you have come out in enthusiastic favor of a ludicrously vague ‘plan’ that would ban travel to the US of a significant percentage of the world’s population, with all the attendant economic and social disruption this would entail (including, no doubt, retaliatory banning of travel by American citizens), all to maybe prevent the entry into the country of a few dozen terrorists that you are not sure even exist, and all to reduce by some small increment the abject fear you have of a risk that is very near the bottom of all the bad things that could ever happen to you.
