Trying to find a Mozart piece

I used to have a Mozart collection CD and there was one piece on it that I really liked. I think it came from Cosi fan tutti, and it began with “O …”

Of course, I’ve lost it and can’t remember the name fo the piece.

The CD was a Phillips album, I think, with a silvery bust of Mozart with some spray paint on him.

Can anyone suggest the name of the piece, or link me to the album? I’ve tried but can’t find either.

Probably “Soave Il Vento”

If anyone here would know the answer, I would have indeed guessed @K364.

I’ve owned several Mozart collections over the years and “Soave sia il Vento” linked by @K364 is the only piece from “Cosi fan Tutte” that I’ve ever seen on them.

BTW K 364, Sinfonia Concertante, is one of my favorite Mozart pieces. It was great to be reminded of it, and I’m listening right now to the Itzhak Perlman / Pinchas Zukerman performance.

And a fun 3 minute synopsis of Cosi Fan Tutte, with a 10 second background clip of “Soave” starting at 1:14

@gkster That link is great! Opera plots can’t be taken too seriously that’s for sure.

@K364 glad you liked it! WQXR is my car radio station when commuting and the 3 Minute Opera feature is a high spot. Since I’m working from home, I decided to look them up online. Here’s the only other Mozart one I found:

There’s a list of all the numbers from Cosi at https://www.opera-arias.com/mozart/cosi-fan-tutte/

Another thought that occurs to me is that it might have been Dove sono from The Marriage of Figaro:

“A silvery bust of Mozart with some spray paint on him” sounds familiar. Was it this album? It doesn’t have anything from Così fan tutte, but it does have some other opera excerpts. It’s Philips, and your description of the cover art is spot-on.

Perhaps the most famous Soprano aria from The Marriage of Figaro is “Voi che sapete”

And there is the Shawshank Redemption one “Sull’aria”

When Mozart writes for the voice, I start to believe in Heaven.

Thanks for all the links, everyone. I’ve been enjoying listening to them.

@erysichthon, thanks for the link to the album. That’s it. I suddenly realised that even though I knew it was a Phillips album, for some reason I was searching as if it were Deutsche Grammophon. Where’s ol’ smackie when you need him?

And it was track 7 that I was thinking of, wtih “tutti” in the title: “Contessa, Perdono… Ah, Tutti Contenti” - which interestingly, came up in the YouTube feed for the clip @K364 suggested.

And here is Dame Kiri granting forgiveness:
