I have a vague memory of playing a game with my family in the 80s where the players were trying to solve a murder. For each case, there was a card with a drawing of the crime scene and, I think, a summary of the case. There was a list of questions that the players answered by looking at the drawing. The questions were supposed to guide the player to the solution and the final question was always “Who killed [victim name]?” We each wrote down our answers to the questions and then shared our answers with each other at the end to see who got the most right and who solved the case. I remember one case was about astronauts. One astronaut somehow caused another to be ejected from the space station they were on in order to murder him. One of the questions for that one was “What is out of place?” and the answer was a boot that was askew. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Does anyone remember the name of the game?
That sounds a lot like a game we had, called “Crack the Case,” though that game appears to be from the early ‘90s.
Thanks for the suggestion! We had that game, too, and it has some similarities, but that wasn’t it.
It occurs to me that the game I’m thinking of might be from the early 90s, too. It would definitely would have come out no later than 1992.
How about the game “Clue” Cluedo - Wikipedia
Crime Busters
Unsolved Case Files
That’s it! Thanks!
You weren’t the first person to ask. I found a reddit thread where someone asked almost the exact same question.

The game was sort of like Clue, where you’re looking to uncover how a crime was committed. It wasn’t really a board game (no game pieces), but had individual flash cards that were about 5in x 5in in size. On one side of each card was a picture of the crime scene, and then on the back side, I believe there was a description of the incident you were asked to solve for.
