So who has traveled today and dealt with the new screening procedures? I have to fly next week (well, technically I suppose I don’t have to, but it’s the only realistic way I’m going to see my 93-year-old grandmother), and I haven’t historically had issues with setting off the metal detector, but considering that now the TSA is advising that people with metal implants should warn screeners about them (I have a metal plate on my fibula, and it hasn’t ever been an issue before, but now, who knows?) and that underwire bras may set off the metal detector (which has never been an issue in an airport before, although it was once an issue when visiting a very security-sensitive client - and that’s the only kind I own or am likely to find in my size), I’m less than thrilled at the prospect of this upcoming trip.
Anyone see either of the above issues arise today? If they do, am I even going to have a choice about pat-down vs. scan? How was it handled when you witnessed it? At least the plate is in a spot that I don’t particularly mind uncovering in an airport, and the point of insertion is covered in rather obvious surgical scars…
