Glad to see I’m not the only one who dislikes Don Abrams. I always want to punch his know-it-all face.
I like David Gregory and I will probably tune in just to see if he ever dances again.

I’m surprised no one has suggested Neil “Are Democrats Destroying America?” Cavuto should be up for the chopping block.
Isn’t there a dedicated “CNN Headline News” channel? Maybe not in your market…
CNN Headline News never shows headline news anymore. It used to be a very convenient, half-hour loop of the day’s top stories. Now it’s dominated by talk shows. Nancy Grace and Glenn Beck are both on Headline News. I much preferred the loop.
Oh my lord, yes. Seventh circle, minimum. Don’t let Cerberus bite your butt on the way down.
Beck is a yutz, but at least he not the obnoxious prick that Mr. O’ is.
Oh, that sounds pretty stupid. They originally created a channel specifically to get away from all that crap, and then just made it CNN Bloated Version 2?
While since no one else has said it…
Rachel Maddow needs her own show; pronto!
Aside from Olbermann she is the only one who brings any sort of nuance and reason to the regular shows and the primaries/debate coverage.
On the flip side, I can’t stand Norah O’Donnell. Her sole role on the networks seems to be teeing up race demographics and statistics for Pat Buchanan to hit square his fellow xenophobes. It’s seeping into the visuals too; it might just be me, but while I once found her fairly attractive, she is slowly starting to resemble a brunette Nancy Grace.
Chris Matthews is a wildcard and seems to be sliding into unintentional comic relief though still often, imho, quite harmful. Every once in a while he will hit on a good point or have an actual genuine moment. Most of the time however, he just seems to thrives for disingenuous, cutthroat, gotcha-politics; everything wrong with our system today. When he thinks he ‘got’em’ he tends to get a really creepy smirk on his face as they go to commercials; it’s a face that even a mother would love to punch.
Did anyone catch The Daily Show last night, with Jon Stewart’s interview with WH Press Sec. Dana Perino? A well done interview. He kept it friendly and played his typical cat and mouse for a while, than finally straight up called her out on the WH’s blatant lies, and then pushed to try and get Bush to come on the show. Jon seems to be working his way up the ladder as far as stature of guest go. Though does anyone think Georgie-boy really has the balls? Ironic isn’t it-- how the “most powerful, single person in the free world", as well as the bit players, seem to be so scared of a short statured, stand-up comic who host a basic cable comedy show.
/end tldr cable news rant
Take it back. Take it back!
Well, if it helps, he doesn’t hold a candle to Keith Olbermann.
Exit, stage right. Waaaaaaaay right.
It is stupid. It’s so frustrating when you just want to find out “what’s going on today?” and Headline News is Nancy Grace giving that dumbass duckass scowl of hers while opining that “cops who rape and murder their wives are bad and I don’t care who disagrees with me there I said it!” or something equally ballsy or Glenn Beck interviewing Josh Groban and saying “You know I’m also something of a singer and pianist” or some other such nonsense. I get most of my CNN news now from cnn.com just because you can control the flow without having to look at Larry King or any of the “too stupid to even be on regular CNN” cast. (Even silver fox Anderson Cooper has dummed down his program; he gets way too much professional respect today for righteously indignant reporting from a hurricane that happened 3 years ago.)
What’s really dispicable about Nancy Grace was the way she lied about her fiance’s murder.
To me he has that “dim-witted blowhard at the neighborhood cookout” vibe. The kind of guy who ruins every social gathering by spouting off his half-baked political theories.
Oh, and someone somewhere needs to find a slot for Soledad O’Brien. I always thought she did a good job framing questions when she was allowed to do hard-news interviews.
Screw Tucker Carlson. He’s everything wrong with the overprivileged frat-boy set. I swear he carries a copy of Atlas Shrugged in his briefcase.
By the way, did he ever lose that fucking bow tie? I always wanted to slap him until that thing came untied.
Man, I’m lovin’ this thread. You guys have hit on just about every reason I ignore the news channels, except for an occasional dose of Olbermann, who frankly is a bit of a blowhard himself but is at least entertaining.
Speaking as someone who once aspired to be a journalist, the near complete giving over of the major networks to relentless editorializing and spin saddens me.
Yes, yes he has.
(I’d stuff it in his mouth, first)
But Keith Olbermann is still the sexiest news anchor on the planet.
What are you saying? That I’m out of touch? WELL?!
I just decided to ignore the right-wing pundit set years ago.
