Tucker Carlson and John Gibson: Both shows shitcanned

Gibson’s “Big Story” gets yanked by Fox

Tucker Carlson’s show yanked at MSNBC.

“Tucker” will be replaced by a political show hosted by David Gregory. Gibson is being replaced by a campaign oriented show hosted by Bill Hemmer and Megyn Kelly.
I think both moves are due to low ratings. John Gibson is an enormous tool and will not be missed but I sort of like Tucker Carlson. Not that his political ideology isn’t diseased but I’ve always thought he had some capacity for honesty once in a while instead of just reciting party talking points.

I saw a graphic of MSNBC’s ratings once and Tucker’s show was by far the least popular, so the only suprise was what took them so long.

I don’t watch Fox, so I can’t comment on that, but saw Tucker a time or two. Some things struck me -

His whining about those poor rich white men who get left out by affirmative action.

His absolute stupidity. I imagine he knows better and is just trying to be the devil’s advocate, but it’s hard to tell.

His line of questioning for every guest seems to go along these lines: “My guest, Mr. Blah-blah of the Cats are Great Coalition is stating that cats are carnivores. But I KNOW that everyone, including members of your own coalition, says that dogs are carnivores. Why are you saying that cats are dogs?”

Now when the heck are they getting rid of Glenn Beck?

God I hate Blenn Geck.

Glenn Beck is the most mediocre man in America.

I agree completely about Glenn Beck. I hate it when I find that turning the CNN Headline News on in the morning brings me not the ineffably beautiful Robin Meade but the execrable Glen Beck. Watching a 30 second sound bite for his promo puts me right off my cornflakes, it does. On the other hand, it could be that wretched harridan Nancy Grace, so I guess it could be worse.

Beck is really a dimbulb in addition to being a demagogue. I admire Keith Ellison for not smacking him in the head when Beck demanded that he prove he wasn’t a terrorist.

Carlson is popping up throughout the day on MSNBC offering his opinion on whatever they’re talking about at the moment, so at least he’s still employed.

Anyone seen Gibson?

I never liked Tucker Carlson. I don’t like Dan Abrams either. For me, the worst fallout of Don Imus getting canned is that Joe Scarborough moved to that morning slot, which would be okay if it wasn’t for the fact that the show starts at 4 AM my time. I enjoyed it back when I was in college and could have a night consisting of Around the Horn, Pardon the Interruption, Special Report, Countdown, Scarborough Country, $TVSHOW, Daily Show, Letterman, and Conan.

I used to check out John Gibson’s column on foxnews.com every time I wanted to feel superior. Christ, he must be the stupidest man with an actual paying job.

Carlson is a shithead. I remember him repeatedly trying to make political hay out of John Edwards’ representing a girl who had her bowels sucked out by a pool cleaner. What a fucking waste of carbon.

Can anyone explain how a man with a face like John Gibson, who is also as stupid as John Gibson, ever found himself in front of a TV camera?

The first hint is when he gets that furrowed-brow look, like he is earnestly trying to understand why liberals are liberal. This usually comes right after he declaims any personal support of the Bush administration, neocons or the right wing.

Perhaps CNN “Headline News” can fire every single one of their “personalities” and go back to what they did best - provide a 30 minute news program every 30 minutes. I don’t mind a “CNN Rants”, I just wish it hadn’t cost us the wonderfully useful CNN Headline News. I work a lot of odd hours and wish there was a channel I could turn to and get a news show. Instead, whatever news channel I tune to, I get opinion about the news. This is fine, but I’d like to get the news first, then opinions once I know what is going on.

Continuing the hijack, but GAWD how I hate Glenn Beck, yet have a traffic accident fascination with him at the same time. He reminds me of every co-worker I’ve ever had who’s convinced he’s too brilliant to talk to anyone at the company except for [lucky] me. I’ve considered pitting him or starting a “Who’s the Stupidest Person on any News Network?” thread and championing him but just never have had the conjunction of time and inclination, so I’m glad to hear it’s not just me.

One of my biggest urges to ever go Don Corleone on somebody by slapping them around and saying “You can act like a man!” was when he started crying over the death of Mormon Church president Gordon Hinckley. I would perhaps have been more moved by his emotional outpouring if

1- Beck had ever actually met the man (by his own admission he had not)
2- Beck had grown up Mormon or otherwise known Hinckley his whole life (he converted as an adult)
3- Hinckley had not been pushing 100 years of age at the time of his death (i.e. not exactly high up on the Heath “WTF!” Ledger of Famous Deaths)

But if you have about 30 minutes to kill and you want to see a vortex of stupidity and religious bigotry open, watch Glenn Beck’s interview with John Hagee on YouTube. The entire episode focuses on “Are we living in the End Times?”. I won’t ruin it for you by telling you the answer, though I will suggest you 'get the 30 year mortgage if you’re buying a house since you’re only going to be paying a few years anyway and may as well enjoy the extra $ each month.
Highlights include Hagee’s history lessons (did you know that there were absolutely no technological advances in transportation and warfare between the ancient world and 1900? Or that it wasn’t until the modern era that humans had technology that could burn somebody’s body?) and Hagee-Beck’s Anti Muslim Stupidity Duet in which Glenn reads a description of the Islamic Twelfth Imam as described by Ahmedinejhad so that Hagee can say “check… check… not so much… check… no… wait, change my mind, yes he will be riding a white horse, check…” as to whether or not the madhi as Ahmedinejhad is describing/summoning is really the Anti-Christ (whose existence is of course proven and taken for granted).

ETA: Returning to topic, every time you buy a Swanson Frozen Dinner you make Tucker Carlson just a teensy bit richer (his mom’s family owns the company), so DON’T!

Dammit, Sampiro, in my spirit of counter-boycotting, now I gotta buy two!

I like Tucker but I’m usually asleep during his show, and anyway he’s on MSNBC all the time. Pat Buchanan hasn’t had a show for years and he’s on ALLLL the time. Also, I like Dick Gregory.

Actually, I like the whole MSNBC line-up. Except with Keith Olberman starts being the Lefty Moralist Scold, like the mirror-image of a Fundy Righty TV preacher. When he’s not doing that, I even like him.

Also, the MSNBC ladies are smart and attractive. Mika is a great foil to Joe.

Nice to see that I’m not the only one who had this as their first response to reading the thread title. But my thought ended with “…and Nancy Grace.”

-Joe

Glenn Beck’s only purpose on television is to make Bill O. seem sane - although I am not absolutely certain that is a positive.

I hate Nancy Grace with an unbridled passion. I don’t even have cable television, but I think she follows me everywhere I go. Any time I do catch some cable TV news, she is there. She is an ignorant piece of shit who doesn’t even have the entertainment factor of Ann Coulter, who just makes me laugh.

I see where the OP is coming from on Tucker Carlson. The times I’ve seen him, I’ve been like, wow, what an asshat, but he’s still somewhat entertaining. Still, I aint gonna cry over his departure.

Is that even possible?

(Oh, and am I going to hell for finding Tucker Carlson kind of sexy?)

At least he’s the best at something!
