Turkey had some nice chances in the first half. One was cleared of the line by Daf, quite brilliantly.
Turkey keep getting the ball forward, then make mistakes in front of goal. Hakan Sukur wasted some great chences. He’s looking a bit past it, to be honest. Basturk and Hakan Sas are looking very good.
Some great drumming from the Senegalese supporters!
Now that was a Golden Goal. Very nice strike. I think that the bracket which Brazil - Turkey came out of is looking like it was pretty strong, both semi-finalists. The Korea/USA bracket looks pretty strong now, too. I wonder if Turkey can turn it around in the semi-final. Also, didn’t see the whole game, just some of the second half and the additional time, did any Turks get cards or will they be full strength against Brazil?
The Turks will be full strength with regards to bookings, ShibbOleth, but Sukur’s injuries are affecting his gameplay, if you didn’t see he blew 2 or 3 really good chances. Still, it looks like Ilhan is a pretty good replacement.
Turkey did what several teams have not done this World Cup: adjust their game to overcome what the opponent throws at them. Congratulations to the Turks for finally knocking down the door to football greatness.
Gotta agree that there is no way Sukur should start the next game. What a poor individual effort he turned in: the game should have been put away in the first half by him. Obviously injuries and the toll of the tournament on his body have him totally out of it.
