Turning 21 in the MMP

Afternoon all!

Busy busy admin type day today- yesterday I thought I’d got a room sorted in the new place, today it might be changing to a new one (they messed up). . They apparently have another room, but they’re not being very helpful and haven’t even sent me pictures yet.
My current job keeps asking me to do stuff (even though I don’t normally do Wednesdays) the housing agency and the work agency and the new job have all been sending me multiple emails, and I’m trying to clear out my junk collection in between messages. I’m giving away the desk later, and I may have someone interested in the sofa and mattress, but not sure yet

All in all, I’m fighting the temptation to just curl up under the bed with a bottle of wine for the rest of the afternoon.

Flyboy (that is your Mumper name, right? at the moment I’ll need best out of 3 to get my own correct, I’m frazzled) the one that always bugs me is the autocorrect of ill to I’ll. No, I’m not taking a day off because I’m I’ll.

Unreliable source.

This made me laugh. High-five on the victory! I’m sure the remaining patrons enjoyed the impromptu gladiator entertainment.

Have a safe & uneventful drive!

The “date” was a whole lotta worries over nuthin’ (a common theme in my life) but it was good to rip off that first-time jitters Band-Aid, I guess.

He was nice enough, but I don’t find myself wanting more of his company. He fixed us pasta and we watched some T.V. and chatted, but I got the hell outta there as soon as possible, probably sooner than was really polite.

Couldn’t stop yawning uncontrollably, the whole way home - anxiety is exhausting y’all - and went straight to bed … then slept in. Easily 12 hours. Still feeling drained today.

It’d be good to put away the clean laundry, though, at least, and maybe even get another load done.
There’s a few mini quiche heating in the oven for breakfast, and I have a tiny spiral slice ham in the fridge that will probably become today’s main meal.

All y’all take care out there today.

I just realized I spend kind of an obscene amount of time at work hitting the send button and wanting to run screaming for the hills. And this is why I didn’t want to manage people.

On another note, I nearly gassed my family this morning. I decided that I’d make some white bean chili in the slow cooker for lunch, dinner or whatever. It involved lots of spicy peppers. I used serranos because I happened to have a lot of them given the sheer volume of curry we regularly eat. So I chucked them in to saute with the red peppers and onions and such and forgot that it would create so much spicy smoke. Anyway, that’s how everyone else woke up this morning. At least it was effective.

Much coffee has been had. I went to sleep a wee bit earlier last night than the night before, but not nearly early enough. Silly me.

Countdown to nap time. RoxStar has had lunch and she’s watching an episode of Cat in the Hat on PBS Kids. Once that’s over, she’s off to napland, and I get a break. She’s been non-stop all morning and I’m beat!!!

ETA: Weird - this thread isn’t appearing on the forum page…

Mini quiche assimilated. Updated meal plan to include a baked tater, because a.) I have a couple, and b.) there’s an abundance of cheese in the fridge and some green onions that need usin’ up. So a N.O.T. is oiled up and seasoned and in the oven now.

When will it be ready? Who knows? But that always makes me think of my favorite stand-up routine about baking potatoes:

I stayed up too late waiting for the results from Georgia and woke up too early thanks to a friend sending a text about it. People have a surprisingly hard time with time zones. It’s like they forget the direction the sun rises. Anyway, all I’ve done so far today is poke around on the Internet. I should get dressed and go for a walk.

shoe, sounds like the date worked as a test run, if nothing else. Whatcha gonna do if he asks you out again ?

Another Microsoft annoyance. Actually, two.

When I import a text file into Access, it occasionally changes the sort order. It may take three attempts to import a file in the order in which the .csv file is saved.

When exporting to a text file, I tell Access where the field starts and, most importantly, how long it is. The old (2010? 2003?) version said, ‘OK, I’ll chop off anything that’t too long because you’re specifically telling me to.’ The new version says, ‘Silly human! You have fields that are longer than you specify! I’ll just export the whole thing and shift your data to the right. I’m smarter than you are.’ Having to pre-truncate the fields doubles the amount of time I have to spend.

Most of the people didn’t show up for the midnight shift, so we had only one guy unloading the truck. which was OK, because the irreg belt was barely running, so we couldn’t move the bags fast. Which was OK, because we only had one person moving bags from one belt to another. Which was OK, because the SSLAW was down, which was OK, because we only had one person sorting the smalls But since I get paid by the hour, and I wasn’t in charge, I just recited that old Polish proverb. Not my circus, not my monkeys. And no midnight sort tonight.

Welcome!
I went to strip clubs before I was 21. Noting like getting into the old Foxy Lady with a fake ID, to see the pregnant stripper.

Shoe, sorry it wasn’t the best date. But there was spaghetti. :ramen:

Shoe, don’t worry about getting out of Dodge too soon. If you’re not feeling it, you’re not feeling it. At least you gave it a go. Was the pasta good at least?

Afternoon, mumpers…or should that be evening since it’s now 5.30pm? Today the weather app says “It’s cold like a vampire’s vagina” and promises me 1C/34F to 3C/38F, we’ve already had some snow flurries today but nothing much to speak of.

Major disaster at work, we’ve been setting up online assessments and were told that we could publish the site provided we’d specified what date it should be available, and nobody would be able to see anything until that date. Turns out that was not true so now I’ve had to unpublish about 60 modules and we’re waiting for someone in Digital Education’s team to let us know how many of the embedded papers have been accessed. Could be massive, might not be…really not sure, but it’s a disaster anyway.

shoe no reason to feel bad about ditching the date if it wasn’t working out, at least he cooked for you, and hopefully the pasta was good.

I’ve not kept up with anyone else’s news lately, our own has been sufficiently depressing. Sounds like the Orange Shitgibbon might finally have to admit defeat? I hope he’s got somewhere to go when he has to leave home, I hear that his Scottish golf course is out of bounds as their First Minister won’t let him in. Well, she won’t let the English cross the border (bet she’s loving that!) so what chance has he got? Is there also truth to the rumour that he can’t move to his Florida golf course/resort place too?

My brain hurts, I’m going to lay on the sofa and drink strong tea for a while and hope the world keeps turning.

Oh do tell…

Just got me a scammy email from “geek squad” saying my 2-year service subscription had been renewed for $499.95. Hovering over the From line showed a gmail address - I’m pretty sure Best Buy doesn’t use gmail. After a momentary panic, since we’ve just recently dealt with a compromised card, I googled “geek squad scam” and discovered I got one of the cheaper ones - some folks apparently renewed for $799!! And if you want to cancel, you just call the provided number and they’ll put the money back on your credit card. yeah, I’ll get right on that…

FCD is driving to FL tomorrow to spend some time with his folks. He asked me to make oatmeal cookies for them, so that’s on tap tonight. I should get the butter out to soften. Then I’ll be without adult supervision for a while. Can you imagine?!?!?!

BooFae - there will be lawsuits if his Orangeness attempts to live at his resort. I so look forward to him having his ass handed to him based on lies he told about that property. We shall see.

God, I hope he does. Political affiliations aside (though I’m pretty damn left-leaning), the quality of the legislation coming out of the current administration is either written by toddlers or morons, and I really don’t want to insult the toddlers because they have a clearer sense of right and wrong and the interconnectedness of all the legislation.

As someone who works in very regulated markets, I’m crossing my fingers that someone who actually knows how the law works will write the law.

Round trip, or each way?

You don’t have to if you don’t want to!

Have breakfasted (ham steak left over from last night) and am now caffeinating. Currently 39 (wind chill 31) and overcast; 40 and mostly NOS this afternoon, 25 and partly cloudy tonight. Forgot to take the bins out to the curb last night, but luckily this week was trash only. The trash bin can go two or three weeks with no problem, but there’s no way the recycling bin can go four weeks.

Flyboy, your adventures with Microsoft are fine examples of the marvels of modern technology!

My memories of childhood TV-commercial jingles mostly include cereal and cigarettes.

:notes: Yummy, yummy, digga digga bowlful,
You catchum big, big flavour,
Oceans of energy. :notes:

:notes: More taste, fine tobacco –
That’s what happiness is! :notes:

:notes: If you don’t (I do!) like peanuts,
Don’t get new Kellogg’s Triple Snack. :notes:

I hope the trip was uneventful and that the Botox helps.

It’s Microsoft. They’re from a hell dimension.

Nut I think that’s just fine.

Shoe It’s weird how that works. Stress is really hard on the body.

I like letting the cats into the kids room. The cats wreak havoc and/or stand on the kids heads until the kid emerge.

We’ve got today’s shit show to get through. F*ckers. Presumably we’ll get through this, and then Great Orange Buffoon (GOB) will get turfed out. I’m enjoying watching him trying to figure out how to leave the country.

To be fair, anyone walking into a Waffle House, day or night, should be prepared for a brawl.

My new stove came, and it works! I cleaned too much, so I’m curled up in bed with a heating pad on my back. The kitchen looks absolutely lovely. I’m sure the installers enjoyed it. (Yes, I’m an idiot for worrying about it.)

The storm that was predicted, and then removed from the forecast, is headed right towards us. I think that I might as well throw darts to get a forecast here.

Not much else happening. We’ll have roast chicken tonight. I’m looking forward to testing out the new stove.

Happy Wotansday all!

I got most of the laundry put away, and - more importantly - finally got my name tag attached to Monkey’s collar. I ordered one that rivets directly on (as opposed to dangling & jingling, which I can’t stand) but it took some finesse and I’d been putting it off.

Popped off 2 of my pretty purple nails in the process (I am hard on things like that) but they can be re-glued. Far more important that Monkey is wearing a collar again, and that it has my name and phone number on it. Marks him as “owned” and not a stray.

Baked potato has been assimilated, and I have made progress on my cross-stitch project, a psychedelic Cheshire cat of my own design. I haven’t done cross-stitch since college - forgot how peaceful and soothing I found it.

Howdy Y’all! We procured provisions, achieved nappage, and sup got cooked and et. Kitchen got cleanded up as well. We have someone comin’ to talk to us about becomin’ our house cleaner on Moanday. We can afford it and OYKW has said he will sit on me, or do whatever is needed, to ensure I don’t clean house for the cleaner. He can be so helpful! So we shall see if’n that is a thing that happens.

shoe you got a date under your belt. It’s fine if he did not click for you. Hope the sketties was good.

I should probably not keep watchin’ the stuff goin’ on in D.C, Not good for the blood pressure. Maybe I’ll just concentrate on the Jawja Senate race instead. Or forget both and just binge some Netflix. That would probably be the best option.

Baking cookies, fuming about the Ass-in-Chief and his minions.

Deep cleansing breaths…

FCD is leaving in the dark of the morning. He’ll probably just stay thru the weekend - he can only take so much with his folks, especially in their most stubborn mode. I have no idea what I’ll be doing while he’s gone, apart from some binge-watching, and at least one trip for groceries.

Yeah, I run wild… :stuck_out_tongue:

Negative, Ghost Rider. Dinner plans have been changed to small Hunk o’Cow instead of Spiral Pig.
Cow is already bathing in a marinade of balsamic vinegar, pineapple juice, soy sauce, and Wershersher sauce. Piggy can wait for another day.

Kitties split a can of gooshy-food, and some trash has been taken out. I washed most of my dishes, and just fed the ratties.

Finished putting away laundry, but didn’t start another load. Left that for tomorrow, because otherwise - what is there to do?

For now, I’m snacking on the last bits of some fancy cheese and contemplating what’s next. Perhaps T.V. shall ensue.

May I ask if you’ve had a chance to have him chipped yet? I think those are one of the best inventions of vet science. My cats would never leave collars on-I’d find them all over the, just never on the cats. Have had a couple of kitties that love to dash out the door when it is open and then run under the front porch, out of reach, where they would crouch and snicker at me. Only the Siamese still does it, the two feral rescues know just how good they have it inside.

You’re just doing cause you want OYKW to sit on you. Need I say more?

Back from the doctor appt and my 37 injections. Grimly gray driving weather, some drizzle but the sleet didn’t materialize, so I’m happy. He’s going to refer me to a colleague for an additional set of injections for bruxism, oh, goodie. He suggest a trial of a small dose of Remeron for sleep. The TBIs whacked my sleep center but good. I would do almost anything to be able to fall asleep and stay asleep. Hopefully being able to get a bare minimum of sleep won’t make me boring to you guys…
