On the detective series “Simon & Simon,” Gerald McRaney played A.J. ("Andrew Jackson) Simon.
And Homer J Simpson is Homer Jay Simpson.
I don’t know, but there is a local identity who calls himself Maynard F# Krebs …
B.J. on MAS*H. It was never revealefd what that stands for.
Yes, he said he’s named after his parents Bea and Jay, but he’s obviously joking.
Actually, he played Rick Simon. Jameson Parker played A.J. Simon.
What about Elmer J. Fudd, millionaire?
That’s easy! G for Gilligan!
Rocket Jet Skwerl
Grampa is Abraham J. Simpson; all three are a tribute to Jay Ward.
Star Trek TNG had William T. Riker. I think the T might have stood for Thomas, but I’m not sure.
Yes. And his accidental duplicate called himself Thomas Riker.
Belvedere Jehosophat.
The G. stands for Walter. Really and truly.
Fred G. Sanford, anyone? He usually said something like, “And the G stands for, ‘Gonna give you five across your lip, ya big dummy.’”
Sir Rhosis
And of course Rob and Laura Petrie’s son was named Richard R. O. S. E. B. U. D. Petrie.
ROSEBUD = Robert Oscar Samuel Edward Benjamin Ulysses David.
Sir Rhosis
On Golden Girls, Blanche’s middle name was “Elizabeth”, I think. So her name, Blanche Elizabeth Devereaux, spelled “BED”.
Some interesting (if only to me) trivia: the G, which stood for “goldmine”, “gotta get the hell out of heah”, “gone to Acapulco” and lots of other things on the show, was actually (though the show never mentioned it) for “Glenn”.
Fred Glenn Sanford was the name of Redd Foxx’s real-life father and, more importantly, of Redd’s older brother Fred Glenn Sanford, Jr… (Redd’s name at birth was John Elroy Sanford.) The brother died young (in a gang fight as memory serves) and naming the character for him was Redd’s tribute. (The father abandoned the family when Redd was a baby, though he later presented himself after Redd was famous expecting [erroneously] to be supported by him.)
What about Ernest P. Worrell?
He owns a mansion and a yacht.
T. stands for The as in Kermit The Frog
On the episode where Hawkeye is driven to figure it out, on BJ’s army record is says BJ, so that would imply that that is his real name. The it doesn’t stand for anything.
What about that coyote’s middle initial?
