TV display only showing top left corner of Computer when connected through HDMI cable.

Maybe try a previous driver?

I can’t find a nice neat listing of previous drivers. I’m actually up for trying that.

Rollback was shaded out in Windows device manager and on Intel’s website, I have a heck of time finding anything.

What are some alternative methods of mirroring my screen to the TV?

I know there is a Steam device that does this for Steam games, but does that Steam device only work on Steam games, or can it generally mirror my screen?

Is there a device I can buy that would be a workaround until the drivers are updated/repaired?

What is the need to mirror the display?

Mainly because I play games on my PC and would like to have them up on screen like you would connect gaming console. Sound would be fantastic, too. HDMI does that, obviously, but I can not get it to work even with all fixes suggested.

I do sometimes just connect my laptop to put a video up on screen, too.

Does your laptop/TV have VGA/DVI outputs/input? I’m doubting a new laptop would. But if so, try that. Sound would have to be another cable though, which is annoying.

This might sound odd… but did you buy this TV at a drug auction?

Does it happen if you just select the output to be the external TV with no picture appearing on the laptop?

My WAG is there is a handshake issue between the TV and your PC so it doesn’t understand what resolution the TV is capable of and is defaulting to something terrible. I’d be curious to know how Windows and the Intel Graphics panel see the TV as for a display. Unfortunately, I’m not familiar enough with the Intel UI to know where that is or how to make a custom profile for it.

One quick test is to try another HDMI port.

Ha, no. Amazon. New in the box, via Amazon Prime.

I agree that the TV no longer understands “what to do” in terms of resolution and display, but it is Windows to blame. I currently have it rolled back and it is, of course, fine. And again, my Toshiba works fine and my wife’s laptop has no issue.

I did try a different HDMI port on my TV and it was still wrong. I would not mind trying another hdmi screen, but I only have the one TV.

When you connect your TV to the computer, it tells the computer which video modes it supports via EDID codes. You may need a .INF file to help Windows understand this. Check the box in which your TV came for a CD, or go to Samsung’s website and look for it there.

Yeah, that’s what I was trying to remember while I was writing my post but couldn’t. Back in the day we overrode the generic driver with our own EDID stuff to get the TVs at work to display properly. Windows wouldn’t allow a 1080p signal over VGA otherwise since they were connected through some sketchy passthrough that only used half the DE-15’s pins.

I really appreciate all your thoughts and hard work.

I mis-reported my TV model. Here is the real one.

Way back when, PowerStrip was useful for tweaking display parameters in troublesome cases, but no idea if it still runs under Windows 10–there is no official support for it, at any rate.

Did blocking only the one problematic Windows update, not all of them, work?

Do the games absolutely require Windows 10? Could you simply use SteamOS (or whatever) instead?

Is 15.60.2.4901 the one you have? If you click “Show More” at the bottom there are several others.

Mine says 22.20.16.4749. Here is a screenshot of mine.

Note: Rollback looks available in my screenshot because I have undone the Windows Update. I’m not kidding: Rollback the driver is shaded out after I update Windows 10.

Note 2: I super, super appreciate everyone here working and suggesting so much.

And, even crazier, when I try the driver you link to, it tells me it is not for my system.

A solution was provided to me today by someone from Intel. It was a way to override Windows settings and allow a more recent driver to install, even without it being officially validated to my computer. Yes, it’s stupid, but my PC is not on the validated list for the updated driver.

I will post more details later after I fully test it.

Did you try the solution that Intel provided? I would like to know what they provided you since I am having the exact same problem.
