TV listings

I used to go to tvguide.com for listings. Then they started putting up annoying “helpful” preview videos  and other crap that just made it much harder to look at the dang listings.

So, I switched to yahoo. And for a long time, I was happy. But now, yahoo has turned into tvguide. I have to wait for ages for a video for a show I’m not interested in to load so that the fricken page will move so I can scroll down onto listings, which takes FOREVER to scroll through because it doesn’t load all the listings in its new, spiffy look and feel  no, the stupid thing has to wait for you to scroll down, then it loads and draws and does spiffy things while you wait (and wait and wait and wait).

Basically, I hate it. Almost to the point of pitting it.

Does anyone know anyplace on the net where I can go and just look at listings without having to watch annoying videos or wade through crap? The ideal site for me will load one great big page of listings and all I have to do is just scroll around a bit to see what’s on that night.

zap2it.com works well for me.

Thanks, Gut!

Glad to help out  That was easy one.

Seconded. My current TV listings is also http://www.zap2it.com/

Moving thread from IMHO to Cafe Society.

I’d like to thank both the OP and the responders. That was a problem I had too and the site you referenced is far superior to any online tv listing I have seen before.

I use a Google homepage widget by TVfeedr . My only complaint is that it doesn’t have any of the ESPN networks listed. Link.

On preview, I see that the listings are provided by zap2it. But the widget is still pretty cool.

I bookmark that site, but when I return, it always defaults to showing only 30 channels. Is there a way to bookmark/save it so it always shows the full listings?

Mine defaults to full listings. I was under the impression that if you click the full listings link, and close the browser in that format, it gets stored in the cookie. Ensure your favorites link is to the full listings.

This could be a cookie/browser issue. I use IE6 at home and at work. I allow cookies.

I did bookmark the full listings. I even went back now and copy and pasted the full listings, but it switches it back to 30 channels when I return.

I’m using Firefox and allow cookies.

I would guess it is a firefox issue, maybe **Zap2it ** has an FAQ on their site to help Firefox users.

I use an Excite homepage–have had the same one for years and years.

Mahaloth, try clicking on “customize grid” and do that. Also, they redesigned that page a while back and occasionally it’ll only show 30 channels regardless of customizing.

I use tvguide.com and I never see videos or ads – but then again I’m using Firefox with Adblock plus enabled. I’ll give zap2it a try, though.
