There was a thread about wasting water recently, and it put me in mind of a movie I saw years ago. In it, a teenaged California surfer dude gets shifted off to relatives in the midwest somewhere. (He brings his surfboard, since it’s near one of the Great Lakes.) His cousin (?) leaves the water on while brushing his teeth, and Surfer Dude scolds him for wasting water; the joke being that that part of the country was not suffering an extended drought as California was.
Typical story about the New Kid with Different Ideas struggling to be accepted in a Different Place. But whenever I hear about ‘wasting water’ I’m reminded of it. Does anyone know the name of it?
Is it Airborne?
"Mitchell Goosen is sixteen/seventeen year old kid from California who loves to surf and roller blade. Yet, his parents, who are two zoologists were given a grant to work in Australia. The only problem was: Mitchell couldn’t go with them. So, he gets sent to stay with his aunt, uncle, and cousin in Cincinnati, Ohio. When he arrives, he meets his cousin who is also his new roommate for the next six months: Wiley. Mitchell then goes to school and gets on the bad side the high school hockey players. Mitchell and Wiley end up enduring weeks of torture from the guys. Then, the big guys and Mitchell and Wiley have to learn to get along to try to beat the Central High School rivals in a competition down Devil’s Backbone. "

Airborne
The rollerblading scenes are pretty cool. As an added bonus, it has early Seth Green and Jack Black along with a few other names you’re likely to recognize that aren’t quite so famous.
The name isn’t familiar, and I don’t remember the other scenes; but it sounds like it might be the one.
Thanks.
