In the 90s there was a show on network tv about a Catholic church in an inner-city parish. It probably lasted 2 seasons. Any Dopers remember this one? There was an actress who played a nun, and she still shows up on tv playing a bitter self-righteous woman. I’m trying to find out the actress’ name.

Could it have been Sister Kate? I vaguely remember that show, it was about a nun who ran an orphanage. Not exactly what you describe, but it ran for one season 1989-1990 so that sounds about right.

Hollywood just loves stories about priests and nuns.
Reminds me of the runaway success of Book of Daniel a few years ago. Although I think that was Episcopal priests, not Roman Catholic.
Probably not what you’re looking for, but just for fun I thought I’d remind everybody in here about Hell Town. Robert Blake was a ‘scrappy tough guy’ priest. His character’s name was Father Hardstep. The nun was Sister Indigo. Other nuns in the parish had names like Sister Daisy and Sister Angel Cakes, and they are overseen by Mother Margaret.
And the church was Our Lady of Perpetual Motion?
Isn’t the local parish in Lake Wobegon called Our Lady of Perpetual Responsibility?
And now I’m flashing back to a Cheech and Chong routine where a HS basketball coach referred to playing the team from Our Lady of 151st Street.

Mainly I remember it for having the dad from Silver Spoons. No idea if it had a nun or anything.
I immediately thought of Nothing Sacred, but had forgotten the name. Good show. I think it was while watching that that I first found out that the Contras weren’t really good guys.
