Man, how come I can never think of any of these on my own?
I heartily agree with:
The Adventures of Brisco County Jr.
and
Sports Night.

Judas, Brutus, and Cassius.
Unless Dante was a lot older than I thought, he could have not had a personal vendetta against any one of them.
(Dante did include many contempory political figures in other circles. A good annotated copy of Inferno should be able to point them out for you.)
Tom Arnold’s series “The Jackie Thomas Show”. I don’t remember a lot of detail about it now but remember that I thought it was hilarious at the time.

Another to add to the list: Eyes starring among others Tim Daly as an upscale private investigator. Lasted I believe four episodes.
I forgot “Dead Like Me” on Showtime.
I neglected to add Odyssey 5 on Showtime. It’s cancellation caused me to cancel Showtime.
Brutus and Cassius for betraying Julius Caesar. Lowest part of the circle was Judecca – for the traitors to their lords.
I actually did a double take in the video store when I saw it. I had no idea it was coming out on DVD, and just stopped in my tracks when I saw it tucked away on the shelf. I grabbed it and ran for the checkout line.
Add to my list:
Touching Evil
The Powers That Be
Grand (silly sitcom from the late 80s that never found an audience)
Joan of Arcadia
Freaks and Geeks
Cupid
I’d also add Boomtown in a special category. They took a great show and messed with the concept because the great unwashed masses didn’t “get it.”
They made it just another cop show and it was quickly cancelled shortly into the second season.
Thanks for the info on Nowhere Man. I was starting to think they’d never release the DVD set. I have enjoyed Wonderfalls via Netflix.
How about Line of Fire, the short-lived ABC series? David Paymer’s Jonah Malloy was one of the most frightening, lethal characters I’ve seen in recent TV.
While it wasn’t a good show, I was morbidly curious about where Point Pleasant was headed.
Oh yeah, and also Andy Richter Controls the Universe.
Stella
Strangers With Candy
Get a Life
Boomtown
I don’t think you can get cancelled any sooner than mid-show of the first episode:
**Turn On **
This might really have been on too long to qualify, but not to me… My So-Called Life. I hate that it never resolved with Angela and Brian hooking up. ‘Cause you know they wanted to and Jordan was so freakin’ shallow, despite the angsty/pensive/James Dean veneer. Loved the name Catalano though and the characters of Rickie and Rayanne.
Seconded!
Also, how about Quintuplets?
Recently:
Karen Sisco and Eyes (curse you ABC!)
Older:
Strange Luck and Probe
Current show that’s probably going to fall into this category for me:
Threshold
KS and Threshold both star Carla Gugino, my TV girlfriend. sob
I’m with the OP on Space: Above and Beyond, but there just weren’t enough of us to overcome its huge budget. The show had just settled down to a nice mix of arc and stand-alone story, so of course we got attached to the characters right about the time that the axe fell. sigh
Futurama should’ve lasted a lot longer, of course, but the real tragedy was The Critic. Was it just too sophisticated for its (numerous) timeslots? Sort of the Dennis Miller of prime-time cartoons? At least they tried to bring it back in 2000.
Frank’s Place
EZ Streets
It’s surely no coincidence that many of these shows were on FOX or UPN. What the hell is it with those two, anyway?
Money. I imagine that if a show doesn’t make a certain amount of profit, they kill it.
