Best 1 season tv series that should not have been canceled

my favs (all the same year)
Strange Luck- from the creators of Erie, Indiana- Very good premise, very good cast, Why did they cancel it? And what ever happened to the X-Files crossover hinted at in the last episode??

Kindred: The Embraced- Your typical vampire soap opera…based on white-wolf’s Vampire: The masquerade rpg. Hot goth girls, drama, action. Another corp mistake to kill it.

Proffit- Dude sleeps in a cardboard box and is trying to destroy the company that made that box. Corperate Espionage at its finest!
Anyone remember those? What are your fav 1 seasoners?

Firefly

Space: Above and Beyond

Fox officially sucks.

I still can’t believe My So-Called Life didn’t last at least three or four seasons.

Cupid, starring Jeremy Piven in a brilliantly written show. I will never, ever forgive ABC for killing this show in its crib, and I sincerely hope that what was produced is released on DVD.

I call your Cupid, and raise you a Bakersfield PD.

FIREFLY!!!
May the people responsible for its untimely demise rot forever, buried neck-deep in camel dung.

I third Firefly

I second My So-Called Life and third Cupid.

And yet Veronica’s Closet was on for years and years.

It’s a mad, mad, mad, mad world.

Freaks And Geeks!

God I love that show.

Luckily it’s coming to DVD according to a fan site:

“April 6, 2004 has been announced as the release date for the six-disc DVD set featuring all eighteen episodes of “Freaks and Geeks,” including original music, a twenty-eight-page booklet and over forty hours of bonus material, including a “Director’s Cut” version of the pilot episode, twenty-eight audio commentaries, deleted scenes, outtakes, cast auditions and more!”

Also the animated Clerks show, which only lasted six episodes. “Who’s driving? Oh my God, Bear is driving. How can that be?” Good times.

I third My So Called Life.

There’s never been a fictional character I identified with more strongly than Brian Krakow.

Firefly - oh, yeah. Please, may the gods of entertainment money let the movie happen, and let that give rise to a new series. Please?

Cupid - hysterical show. Brilliant writing. ABC. Doomed.

The Job. That show was absolutely hilarious. I tuned in evert week, and was dumbfounded that they cancelled it.

I also really liked Lucky on F/X. More inexplicable b/c it was exactly the kind of “cutting-edged” show that F/X was building along with The Shield and Nip/Tuck.

I love that cartoon.

Word is that the Canadian half is willing to make more, but MTV holds half the rights, and isn’t willing. Blast their oily hides!

Andy Richter Rules the Universe

The Tick

The New Adventures of Beans Baxter

Freakazoid (or did that go for two?)

Oh yeah, My So Called Life was excellent. I didn’t recognize the name (had to look it up on IMDB), because when it ran in my country it was called Angela. I was only 10 or 11 when that show aired, and I remember that I thought Angela’s gay friend was actually a girl. God, I was a dumb kid.

I wonder if the show has aged horribly, or if it has held up. Probably the latter, because there’s some really memorable quotes on IMDB.

“Seeing a teacher’s actual lunch is, like, so depressing. Not to mention, her bra strap.”

Andy Richter Controls the Universe

mea culpa

Ellery Queen. Arguably the best mystery show ever on television. Certainly the only one whose mystery plots stood up against the best of mystery books. True figure-out-the-clue whodunnits. Perfect casting, perfect atmosphere (set in 1947), and plenty of big-name guest stars used well.

Went off the air because it was just too hard to find writers who could reach the level of writing required for the show and because star Jim Hutton was rumored to be impossible to work with.

In addition to Freaks and Geeks and My So-Called Life, I mourn the loss of the not-even-a-full season Maximum Bob.

Another vote for Fireflyl. My other I’m-most-miserable-about-it-being-cancelled-before-it-even-finished-a-full-season vote would be Babylon 5: Crusade. Man, that had potential. Stupid TNT.
